A rhythm of pitched roofs, textured stucco, and warm vertical wood elements defines the street-facing expression of One to Four.

Each residence is given a distinct presence through its individual form and entry, while a consistent palette of materials and architectural details ties the four homes together as one cohesive composition.

From the angled rooflines to the recessed entries and private front approaches, the façade balances repetition with variation—creating a unified streetscape without making the homes feel identical.

Each residence maintains its own identity while following a cohesive interior language, creating continuity across the four homes.

One to Four brings together four residences on a single site while maintaining the qualities of individual homes. Separate entrances, garages, and private backyards establish a clear sense of ownership and privacy for each residence.

The architectural forms are shaped by a series of varied rooflines, creating subtle distinctions between the homes while tying them together through a consistent material and formal language.

Through the SB9 Lot Split and Two-Unit Development approach, the project explores how increased residential density can be integrated into the scale and character of a single-family neighborhood.

Organized through an SB9 Lot Split and Two-Unit Development, each home is designed with its own entrance, garage, and private backyard, offering a sense of independence and privacy.

The design takes cues from the rolling landscape of the Los Angeles Valley Hills, expressed through a composition of varied rooflines and forms. Each residence maintains its own character while contributing to a cohesive architectural language across the site.

SB 9 in Los Angeles: Two Units, Two Different Paths.

SB 9 can create new opportunities for residential development—but the strategy matters.

A Two-Unit Development can take the form of an attached duplex or two detached primary residences, with different implications for site planning, ADUs, JADUs, parking, setbacks, and overall development potential.

Living Layering

Life unfolds in layers.

Across four levels, private and shared spaces are woven together through light, geometry, landscape, and panoramic views of Los Angeles. The central courtyard and infinity pool form the heart of the residence, while sculptural frames create a dialogue between the home and the hillside.

A house designed not as a collection of rooms, but as a sequence of experiences.
