This is the installation of a foundation waterproofing system. The v***r barrier that is applied to the exterior of the foundation wall redirects water into the drain line below which then takes it off the property.

This is a quick overview of the construction process for soft story retrofits!

First, we cut out and demolish necessary portions of concrete, stucco, and ceiling per engineering design. (Photo 2)

Then we excavate grade beam trenches. We install footings, rebar, and fabricated steel columns. We then weld these elements together.

Next, we pour high-strength concrete over the rebar to solidify the structure further and complete miscellaneous framing details such as installing stucco paper and mesh.

Lastly, we begin cleaning up the job site and paint the impacted area to match the texture and color of the existing building.

This foundation repair was focussed on replacing a spalling portion of the foundation.

The first frame shows one of our foundation specialists carefully scraping the new foundation to solidify the concrete and provide a visually appealing finish.

The final frame shows the beautiful new foundation system and the newly installed plywood walls. The plywood walls encase the framing and provide ventilation to prevent the degradation of materials.

Technically, garages are soft stories, and this was a retrofit. However, this doesn't technically qualify as a soft story retrofit. Welcome to the semantics of construction and the permitting process!
