Dutch Barn Builders is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented individual to join our team as a
*Part-Time Building Designer / Drafting Technician.*

Schedule: Flexible part-time hours.
There is also potential for additional hours and an expanded role based on your experience, abilities, and desire to grow with our company.
About the Position
You'll design custom storage sheds, garages, cabins, pole barns, barndominiums, and other custom post-frame and wood-frame buildings. Your drawings will become the blueprint for buildings
that our crews construct throughout the region.
A key part of this position is working with local building departments and municipalities to ensure plans meet applicable codes and permit requirements so projects move smoothly through the approval process.
Responsibilities
• Create detailed construction drawings and building plans.
• Design custom buildings that are practical, accurate, and buildable.
• Work with municipalities and building departments to obtain permit approvals.
• Revise plans as needed to satisfy engineering requirements, customer requests, or building department comments.
• Coordinate with our sales and production teams.
• Maintain organized project files and documentation.
• Help ensure projects are ready for successful construction.
What We're Looking For:
Construction knowledge is our highest priority. We're looking for someone who understands construction and can think through framing details and construction methods.
Preferred Qualifications
• General construction and framing experience.
• Ability to read and understand building plans.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Organized and dependable.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with our team.
Drafting Software
We use Chief Architect for our building designs. Previous experience with Chief Architect in particular is not required. We are happy to train the right person. We believe construction knowledge and willingness to learn are far more valuable than already knowing the software.
