𝘿𝙞𝙙 𝙔𝙤𝙪 𝙆𝙣𝙤𝙬…

There’s a 100-year-old caboose in Amherst with a story you might not know!

The 1925 B&O caboose at Sandstone Village was donated to the Amherst Historical Society in 2004 and restored to reflect its original interior.

But what makes it especially fascinating? The caboose sits near the site of the 1916 Amherst Train Wreck — a tragedy that left a lasting mark on the community.

🎬 And here’s the surprising part…
Mary Pickford, one of the most famous silent-film actresses of her time, was among the passengers involved in the wreck.

Today, the caboose and its displays help preserve the story of that day and the impact it had on Amherst.

🚂 Have you ever stopped to explore the caboose?

Yesterday, we talked about the return of warmer, more personal kitchens. The good news? You don’t necessarily need an entirely wood kitchen—or even a complete remodel—to achieve that feeling.

Here are a few ways we can bring warmth into your kitchen:
• Add a natural wood island or statement hood
• Mix painted and stained cabinetry
• Introduce an earthy cabinet color like sage, olive or navy
• Replace cool gray finishes with warmer flooring, countertops or backsplash
• Improve the lighting to make the entire space feel more inviting

Whether your kitchen needs a thoughtful refresh or a complete transformation, we can help you choose the right combination for your home, lifestyle and budget.
Which change would make the biggest difference in your kitchen?

You're welcome to stop by the showroom too- but fair warning, we are in the middle of a big remodel and there's not much to see at the moment but an original brick wall and some studs. The lumber kind...

Welcome to our new Monday series: Design Direction with Lis!

I’ll always love a beautiful white kitchen—but the cold, all-white-everything look is starting to soften.

Nationwide, wood cabinetry has officially edged out white as the most popular choice. We’re seeing kitchens become warmer and more personal, with natural wood tones, earthy painted finishes and bolder countertops.

Here in Northeast Ohio, we’re embracing those trends in a more practical way. White cabinets are still popular, but we’re warming them up with a wood island, warmer flooring, stained accents or colors like sage, olive and navy.

We pay attention to national trends, but translate them into kitchens that make sense for Northeast Ohio homes—beautiful, functional and made to last.

If you could start from scratch, which would you choose?

1. Warm wood cabinets
2. Painted cabinets
3. A combination of both

Have a huge kitchen island with tons of counter space OR a spacious walk-in pantry?

Both offer something your kitchen needs, but if you could only pick one, which would it be?

To whom it may concern;

I came in to these little reindeer on my desk this morning.

To whomever put them there, I hope you got a good giggle out of it.

But I’ll be the one laughing when you come in and there is a fully decorated Christmas tree in the middle of our office/showroom/jobsite during construction with Christmas carols playing on the speaker in September♟️

Don’t threaten me with a good time… 🎄

I love Christmas decorations!

Sincerely,

Melissa
