I was SO excited when I saw this blooming croton in our newest supply of plants I had to showcase him right away in a dish garden at work.

This photo was posted on a page I follow. These saddleback caterpillars were found on her palm. I honestly thought it was a joke until I learned about them. 😆

Now that spring is upon us I’ve had a few people ask me about herbs to plant, especially cilantro and dill. I’m a huge lover of cilantro which is why I make most of my guacamole during the cooler weather months! 😁 It’s very important to understand that some of these are strictly cool weather herbs and for the right reason. They will bolt (creating flowers then seeds) which causes a bitter flavor in the leaves. This is a great reference to help you make the right choices at different times of the year.

If you do have bolting herbs and have the space to let them stay let them bloom which will attract specific butterflies to lay their eggs and produce more butterflies to beautify your gardens.

Jasmin is a beautiful and highly fragrant vine which makes an excellent privacy statement on a fence, such as my neighbors shown here. When it starts to have a bit of a “crazy hair day” it can easily be pruned back and still keep blooming.

If you’re looking for a year round flowering beauty Pentas are heat and sun loving perennials that are also drought tolerate. They also love our summer rains. Highly recommend to any landscape or potted plants!

For those of you who encounter deer this can be a good flower choice because they rarely eat them. But please know….if deer are desperate they will eat *almost* anything.

Orchid love!

These babies love bright indirect sunlight or a few hours of morning sun. They love to have their exposed roots mist with water. You can do that every day or every other day.

Give them a good soaking a couple times a week, especially during the hot months if they’re not getting rained on. make sure to get everything wet including the roots the flowers and the leaves.

For fertilizer I like to use the “orchid plus” once a week and “bloom booster” once a month to keep them happy!

As the weather heats up herbs will start bolting and I have quite a few that are including parsley, oregano, cilantro, scallions (green onions) and tarragon. Once they are done blooming and have gone to seed I’ll be collecting them.
