Q: Can I install a ceiling fan where a light fixture is?

A: Sometimes! A ceiling fan is heavier and creates movement and vibration, so the existing electrical box needs to be rated and properly supported for a ceiling fan. If the existing box isn't fan-rated, it will need to be replaced with the proper support before installing the fan. So, even if there’s already a light fixture there, that doesn't necessarily mean the box can support a ceiling fan. At Gill Electric, our licensed and insured electricians can make sure your ceiling fan is properly supported and safely installed. ⚡💡
