Vinyl is the fence type folks around here know the least about, so let's fix that.

The pitch is genuinely simple: you never paint it, never stain it, never seal it. It won't rot and it won't warp. Year eight looks a whole lot like day one. If you've spent a few weekends of your life staining a wood fence, that sentence probably landed.

Now the part the brochure skips — vinyl is unforgiving about the install. Panels that are even slightly out of level telegraph down the entire run, and unlike wood there's no grain or texture to hide it. The material's whole advantage only shows up if the crew takes their time getting posts solid and panels true.

Which is exactly what you're looking at here. Also, we worked around the flower bed instead of through it. Little things count.

"Is staining actually worth it?" is one of the most common questions we get, so here's the honest answer: your fence will stand either way. Stain isn't structural.

What it is, is a jacket. East Texas sun bleaches bare wood and our humidity swells and shrinks it through every season. Stain slows both of those down by a lot, and it deepens the color while it's at it.

But here's the part that matters more than the product itself — the order. Build it right first: solid foundation, quality cedar, tight fit, everything plumb. Then protect it. Stain applied over a bad build just gets you a nice-looking fence with a short life, and you'll be disappointed twice.

A gate is the only part of your fence you touch every single day. 🔒

It's also the part that quietly tells you whether somebody built the whole thing right. A gate that's out of square looks perfect on install day — and starts dragging by month four. Then you're lifting it every time you haul the mower out, and you'll do that for the next ten years.

This custom build in Longview — horizontal panels, powder-coated frame, keypad entry instead of a key you'll lose — got squared, hung, and set to still latch clean years down the road.

Here's our position on pricing, since you asked (or you're about to): we'd rather give you an honest number for a gate that lasts than win the job on a price we both end up regretting. If somebody's meaningfully cheaper than us, ask them what they're doing at the posts. That's usually where the difference lives.

Around here, a fence has to do two jobs: keep what matters in, and stay out of the way of the view. 🌲
