That time of year has come, and it's time to start prepping your lawn for the upcoming season! While you can get away with starting now, the best time to scalp, aerate, and fertilize would be mid-to-late March. Here is an example of the benefits of aerating and what it would do for your lawn.
1. If your lawn doesn't have much grass, you could still aerate, but follow up with overseeding to cover those patches.
2. Aeration is done twice a year (every year) for those who get a lot of foot traffic or have hard clay soil.
3. Aeration can be done once a year (every 2-3 years) for homeowners who don't get a lot of foot traffic in their yard.
4. Scalping is best done in early spring only to ensure healthy new grass comes in for the summer.
