Here are the cabinet color combinations that we’re loving! Two-tone kitchens have been a hit in design recently, and it’s easy to understand why. Selecting a broader color palette gives our clients a chance to add a pop of color or lean into a moodier aesthetic for their space, without having to fully commit.

What pop of color are you looking to add to your home this season?

In this kitchen remodel the pieces are simple and the result is simply beautiful. This two-tone kitchen features a large, wood-grain island packed with storage and seating. Combining the natural finishes from the island with more formal elements like warm white cabinets, crown molding, and a customized range hood gives this kitchen a beautiful blend of lived-in and glamorous.

What's the real difference between open shelving and closed cabinets, beyond looks?

Open shelving prioritizes visual openness and easy access — but everything on it becomes part of the room's design, which means it needs to look intentional, not just functional. Closed cabinets prioritize concealment, so you can store things purely for convenience without worrying how they look.

Too much open shelving can feel cluttered fast. Too many closed cabinets can feel heavy, especially in a smaller kitchen. The sweet spot is almost always somewhere in between.

What countertop material actually holds up to kids?

Quartz is one of the strongest choices for families — non-porous, highly stain- and scratch-resistant, and it never needs sealing. Most everyday messes (juice, crayon, marker) wipe right off.

A close second: granite, as long as it's properly sealed and resealed periodically. Both hold up to daily life a lot better than delicate, unsealed surfaces.

One detail most people miss: the edge profile matters as much as the material. A rounded ("bullnose") edge softens one of the most common bump-and-bruise spots at counter height for young kids.
