🏢✨ Restoring Manhattan's Architectural Jewel: 114 Fifth Ave. 🏢✨

Manhattan’s Ladies’ Mile Historic District is home to architectural treasures, and 114 Fifth Ave. stands tall among them. Designed by Maynicke & Franke in 1909, this 18-story gem recently underwent an extensive restoration. The project's focal point was the terra-cotta half columns, deemed unsafe after inspection. Through innovative solutions, the team successfully removed and restored these iconic features, breathing new life into the building's historic façade while ensuring its enduring legacy.

The brick, limestone and granite masonry structure at 114 Fifth Ave. in Manhattan recently underwent an extensive restoration program after a city-mandated façade inspection deemed its signature terra-cotta half columns to be unsafe.

MEET THE OWNER!

Flag Waterproofing and Restoration was founded in 1982 by Anthony Colao, Sr. In Anthony’s early twenties, he had worked for a local waterproofing and restoration business. During this time Anthony gained powerful knowledge and worked towards perfecting his skills in this trade. Due to the bad job market, Anthony found himself unemployed at the age of 26. He refused to be defeated. He put an ad in the local Penny Saver and collaborated with a friend’s father to produce hand drawn flyers. For the first two years, Anthony operated Flag Waterproofing and Restoration out of the attic of his home. During this critical time, Anthony’s expertise and dedication to client satisfaction lead to lifelong clients and employees. As his clientele expanded, so did Flag Waterproofing and Restoration. Anthony moved Flag to a building in Elmont, NY and continued to grow for 27 years. In 2013, Flag Waterproofing moved to Long Island City and remains here today.

Because of Anthony’s tireless drive and passion for providing excellent customer satisfaction, Flag has successfully grown over the past 35 years. Anthony understands that the success of a firm is directly related to the quality of staff. He continually reinvests in Flag Waterproofing and Restoration which means that you work with the same well-respected and dedicated people who comprise our company from more than 30 years ago.
