Iron Ochre (iron bacteria), will cause drainage failure. Not all basements have Iron Ochre, depending on the geographic area of NJ, PA your basement may develop this issue. The experienced waterproofing contractors will know if your in the zone where iron bacteria can grow and become a major issue. The pictures of this basement show a home that had waterproofing installed only 10 years ago.

Once the signs of Iron Ochre appear standard basement drainage will fail one hundred percent of the time. Iron Ochre is a living bacteria that feeds off the iron present in marine clay. It will never stop the life cycle and multiply swiftly causing a gelatinous material to grow in any type of below slab pipes (smooth PVC, corrugated ADS) makes little difference.

This condition is often minimized and the ignorant contractor will make little issue often a misdiagnosis of rust stains or rusty water is given. Beware of any orange stains visible in your foundation. If your local creek or streams have an orange bottom or if your property has any isolated patches of orange water bubbling to the surface your most likely in the zone.

Basement waterproofing requires additional measures to taken when Iron Ochre is expected. These measures will require specific service annually. Most systems will require thermal portals to allow for high temperature flushing as well as low voltage current run through the drainage system. A new promotional video from a system install in Millville NJ 08062 zip. The walls were early American field stone. Not too dissimilar to most row home construction in Philadelphia. The construction and design are colonial American and were built to last indefinitely, in a vacuum with no dampness, water, or Hydrostatic water Pressure!!

Summer precipitation has created a super saturated layering of marine clays. This intensifies the water pressure on your foundation, creating a water log effect in masonry walls. A damp, wet, water logged foundation has lost strength and structural integrity.
