🏠🚁 You can’t inspect a roof from the driveway.

Looking up from the ground might tell you that a roof looks okay… but it doesn’t tell you what’s actually happening up there.

That’s why we use drone roof inspections.

In just 5–10 minutes, we can get an overhead view of areas that are difficult—or sometimes unsafe—to inspect on foot, especially on:

🏠 Two & three-story homes
🧱 Tile roofs
📐 Steep or difficult roof sections
☀️ Older roofs that may be fragile to walk on

And you’d be surprised what we find.

🔎 Cracked or slipped tiles
🔎 Missing shingles
🔎 Loose or exposed fasteners
🔎 Cracked seals around vents & pipes
🔎 Damaged flashing
🔎 Debris collecting in valleys
🔎 Small areas that just need maintenance

The important part? Not every roof problem means you need a new roof.

Sometimes a small repair or roof tune-up is all you need to help get your roof ready for the next rainy season.

Because that little broken tile you can barely see from the ground? 🌧️

Once water finds its way underneath, a small exterior problem can turn into damaged plywood, insulation, drywall, paint, flooring—or even bigger repairs inside the home.

Catch it while it’s a roof problem, not an interior problem.

That’s the whole point of preventative roof maintenance. 🙌

🌊 MEET THE NEW OCEAN HOME.

New look. New mascot. Sharper focus.

Say hello to Ollie the Ocean 👋🌊 — the new face of Ocean Home Roofing & Exteriors.

But this rebrand is about a lot more than a new logo.

We made the decision to hyper-focus our company on the exterior of the home.

🏠 Roofing
🎨 Exterior Painting & TEX•COTE
🧱 Siding
🪟 Windows
🌧️ Gutters

Why?

Because we don’t want to be the contractor who says:

“Yeah… we do that too.”

We want to be the company homeowners call when it comes to protecting, upgrading and transforming the outside of their home.

There are definitely pros AND cons to that decision.

THE PROS ✅

We can go deeper into fewer trades.

Better product knowledge.
Better installation systems.
Better training.
Better warranties.
Better quality control.

And when projects overlap — like roofing + fascia + gutters, or siding + windows + exterior paint — you’re dealing with one exterior company instead of coordinating multiple contractors.

THE CONS ❌

We’re intentionally saying no to certain types of work.

Could we chase every remodeling project that comes our way?

Sure.

But we’d rather become exceptional at a handful of exterior trades than try to be everything to everybody.

That’s the direction we’re taking Ocean Home.

Less general. More specialized.

And Ollie represents that next chapter. 🌊

We’re still the same company built around transparency, education and standing behind our work — we’re just getting much clearer about what we want to be known for.

🌧️ Your roof needs maintenance too.

Think about it…

You wouldn’t drive your car for years without changing the oil. 🚗

But most homeowners go years without having their roof checked — until the first leak shows up.

☀️ SoCal heat
💨 Santa Ana winds
🍂 Debris
🌧️ Heavy rain

All of it takes a toll on your roof.

That’s why we’re offering our $67 Roof Tune-Up to help SoCal homeowners get El Niño ready BEFORE the rain comes.

We’ll check the areas most likely to cause problems, identify anything that needs attention, and show you exactly what we find.

No scare tactics. No guessing. Just preventative maintenance and an honest look at your roof. 🏠🌊

A little maintenance today can prevent a much bigger problem tomorrow.

📲 DM us “TUNE UP” to schedule your $67 Roof Tune-Up.

POV: You’re the roofer who actually did the work… but the GC still hasn’t paid you. 😭🔨

Crew showed up.
Roof got torn off.
Materials got installed.
Job passed inspection.
Homeowner is happy.

Meanwhile the subcontractor:
“So… when am I getting paid?” 😂

This is one of the biggest realities in construction that homeowners usually never see.

A lot of roofing companies and general contractors in California use subcontractor crews. The problem starts when the person running the job gets paid, but the crew that actually completed the work is still waiting on their money.

Good subcontractors are hard to find.

If you want quality crews to keep answering your calls, showing up on time, and taking care of your customers…

PAY. YOUR. SUBS.

Because nothing ruins a contractor relationship faster than making someone chase money they already earned.

GCs & roofers — what’s the craziest excuse you’ve heard for a late payment? 😂👇

🚨 THE CHEAPEST ROOF CAN BECOME THE MOST EXPENSIVE ROOF. 😂🏠

Everybody loves a deal… until the “deal” starts leaking.

We came across this flat roof where the installer left NAILS EXPOSED RIGHT AROUND THE SEAMS. 😭

On a flat roof.

You know… the roof where water doesn’t exactly rush off like a roller coaster.

That’s basically like installing a brand-new swimming pool and saying, “Don’t worry about that little hole at the bottom.” 😂

Here’s the thing 👇

💰 Going with the cheapest roofer DOES have a pro:
You save money today.

That’s pretty much the exciting part.

The potential cons?

❌ Incorrect installation
❌ Exposed fasteners
❌ Bad seams & flashing details
❌ Cheap or incorrect materials
❌ Water intrusion
❌ Shorter roof life
❌ Paying another contractor to fix it
❌ And my personal favorite…
“The guy who installed it isn’t answering anymore.” 📵😂

Now, does the most expensive roofer automatically mean they’re the best?

Absolutely not.

Price alone doesn’t determine quality.

What you should really compare is:

🔎 The roofing system they’re installing
🔎 Manufacturer specifications
🔎 Contractor experience
🔎 License & insurance
🔎 Workmanship warranty
🔎 Reviews & reputation
🔎 And MOST IMPORTANTLY… how they actually plan to install your roof.

A roof isn’t expensive because somebody gave you a $20,000 estimate.

A roof gets REALLY expensive when you pay $12,000…

then another $5,000 trying to fix it…

and eventually pay the $20,000 to replace it correctly anyway. 😅

Buy the roof once. Buy it right.

🏠 What’s a chimney cricket — and why does your roof need one?

Under current California residential building code, when a chimney is more than 30 inches wide and doesn’t intersect the roof ridge, a properly constructed chimney cricket is required.

A cricket is the small, raised section built on the uphill side of the chimney. Its job is simple: divert water around the chimney instead of allowing it to collect behind it.

Without one, rainwater, leaves and debris can build up against the back of the chimney. Over time, that can increase the chance of deteriorated flashing, damaged roofing materials and ultimately water intrusion into the home.

✅ Pros: Better drainage, less standing water and debris, and added protection around one of the roof’s most vulnerable penetrations.

⚠️ The downside: It requires additional framing, roofing and flashing, so it adds some labor and cost. But when properly built and flashed, it can prevent much more expensive problems down the road.

A good roofing system isn’t just about the shingles you can see — the details around chimneys, walls, valleys and penetrations are what help keep the home watertight.
