We love pairing it with an oil-rubbed bronze faucet and a vessel sink for a look that feels more like furniture than a standard vanity. Our favorite thing about this kitchen isn’t even in the kitchen — it’s the view from the island straight into the living room.

That’s the whole point of an open floor plan done right: whoever’s cooking is still part of the conversation happening by the fireplace, the kids doing homework on the sectional, the holiday chaos unfolding in the next room over. A hidden beverage station and glass-front cabinetry keep the everyday stuff looking intentional, and that oversized navy island still does the heavy lifting as the spot where everyone naturally gathers.

Not every kitchen story is about a dramatic island or a showstopping light fixture. Sometimes it’s about getting the everyday stuff right.

This one was built around real function: a double wall oven for the family that actually bakes together, a French-door fridge tucked exactly where it needs to be for easy access, and a layout that keeps the cook from feeling boxed in. A slate-blue accent wall and subway tile backsplash add just enough personality to keep things from feeling plain, while warm wood tones underfoot soften all that stainless steel.

There’s nothing quite like a screened porch that spans two full stories.

The upper level is already furnished for lounging — morning coffee with the birds, evening conversations without a single mosquito crashing the party. Below, a shaded, lattice-skirted porch gives a second spot to escape the sun on a hot afternoon. Both tie seamlessly into the home’s classic white clapboard and that beautiful blue-gray shake dormer up top, so the addition reads like it’s always been part of the house.

We love projects like this one because they don’t just add space — they add an entirely new way to enjoy the outdoors, rain or shine, bugs or no bugs.

You can tell a lot about how a family lives by what ends up on their deck.

A basketball hoop bolted right to the railing. A covered patio underneath built for lazy weekend afternoons. Stairs down to the yard so nobody has to walk all the way around the house. None of this was in the original plan on day one — it came out of conversations about how this family actually spends their time together, then got built into the design.

That’s the part of this job we love most: the finished space isn’t just beautiful, it’s a reflection of real life happening in it. Shootarounds before dinner. Coffee on the covered patio. A backyard that finally works as hard as the family that uses it.

Double vanities change the morning routine more than people expect.

We hear it constantly in early conversations with clients: "we're tired of fighting over the sink." So when we got the chance to design this one, giving each person their own space mattered just as much as the finishes did. Two tilting mirrors, two vanity lights, plenty of counter between them — small decisions that make a real difference in how a family actually starts their day. Beadboard wainscoting and a soft neutral palette keep it feeling warm and classic rather than clinical.

It's a good reminder that the best design decisions aren't always the prettiest ones in a photo — they're the ones that make your life a little easier every single morning.

Every time we walk into this kitchen, that stained-glass pendant stops us for a second. It's the kind of detail you don't see on every project — and it was exactly the kind of personal touch this family wanted when we started talking about what "their" kitchen should feel like.

We built the rest of the room to support it: deep cherry cabinetry that feels substantial and warm, a glass mosaic backsplash that catches that stained-glass glow all day long, and crisp white counters so nothing competes with the real showstopper overhead. This wasn't about following a trend — it was about giving this family a kitchen that actually looks like them.

That's our favorite part of this work. Not just building a beautiful kitchen, but building theirs.

This concept rendering shows an open-concept addition designed around one goal: connection. A vaulted, exposed-beam ceiling ties the kitchen, dining, and living areas into one continuous space, built-in bookshelves flank the TV wall for storage that doesn't feel like an afterthought, and a center island keeps the cook in the conversation instead of cut off in another room. Seeing it rendered this way lets a homeowner walk the layout, test the sightlines, and make changes long before framing begins.

This great room addition was built around light and height — a soaring tray ceiling, an arched transom window pulling sunlight deep into the space, and French doors that open straight onto the patio and garden beyond. The floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace anchors the whole room, while rich cherry hardwood floors bring warmth underfoot. This home just gained an entire new wing — and the view to go with it.

The addition brought a vaulted, light-filled gable and a full walk-out level below, giving this family real square footage instead of a cramped afterthought. Out back, a brand-new deck with crisp white railings and wide stairs down to the yard turns the rear of the house into genuine living space — morning coffee, evening dinners, kids running straight out to the grass. New siding ties it all together so seamlessly, you'd never guess where the original home ends and the addition begins.

That's what a well-planned addition should do: give a family more room to live, without ever looking like more was added at all.
