Per Montana Mechanical Code: The dryer exhaust duct shall terminate not less than 3 feet in any direction from openings into buildings, including openings in ventilated soffits. The intent of this requirement is to prevent the uptake of moisture laden air into the attic space where it may create the conditions for mold growth.
