As temperatures climb, metal roof panels naturally expand. When temperatures fall, they contract. Over the course of a day—and throughout the seasons—that movement can be significant, especially across long panel runs.

That’s why the right clip matters.

Floating and expansion clips are engineered to securely attach the panels while allowing controlled thermal movement. When a clip fails, the clip isn’t always the problem. 🔩⚠️

It’s easy to look at a damaged or failed component and assume you’ve found the cause. But in metal roofing, what failed and why it failed can be two very different things.

Improper clip selection, incorrect spacing, installation issues, restricted thermal movement, incompatible components, or loads beyond what the assembly was designed to handle can all place excessive stress on a clip or connection.

That means replacing the failed component without identifying the underlying cause may only address the symptom—not the problem.

Understanding why a failure occurred is critical to preventing it from happening again.
