One AC repair. Three small details worth a closer look. 🔎

A seal coming apart. A bent valve pin. A service cap missing its O-ring.

In this recap, Josh walks through those findings from the same air conditioning service call—showing the components up close and explaining what he found.

The homeowner’s AC wasn’t keeping up, and Josh found the system low on refrigerant. During the repair, he identified a leaking Schrader valve and explained how its bent pin prevented it from seating properly. He also showed the deteriorated valve seal and the missing O-ring inside the service cap.

These are details most homeowners never see. Sharing them helps you understand what your HVAC technician is looking at and why a careful inspection matters.

At Killen Mechanical, we want you to understand the work happening at your home. Follow along for real job-site explanations from Josh, covering air conditioning repair, heating, and HVAC maintenance throughout Livermore, Pleasanton, and Dublin.

The AC was low on refrigerant. The next question: where was it escaping? 🔎

In Part 6 of this repair series, we connect the homeowner’s complaint—an air conditioner that wasn’t keeping up—with what Josh found during his inspection.

Josh shows a bent pin on the Schrader valve and explains how it prevented the valve from seating properly, allowing refrigerant to leak.

“Low refrigerant” described what he found. Identifying the leaking valve helped explain why.

That’s the value of looking closely and explaining the diagnosis. These real job-site videos give homeowners a view of the small components and details involved in air conditioning repair.

This is a recap of the same service call featured throughout the series. Earlier parts show the damaged seal, replacement valve, and missing O-ring inside the service cap.

The valve wasn’t the only detail Josh needed to check. This AC service cap was missing its seal. 🔎

In Part 5 of our air conditioning repair series, Josh shows the service cap he removed from the system. Inside, the O-ring is missing. He then shows the replacement cap he plans to install once refrigerant charging is complete.

After identifying the leaking Schrader valve, inspecting its damaged seal, and showing the bent pin, this is another detail in the same repair—not a separate service call.

These videos give homeowners a closer look at what HVAC service involves. The small components deserve attention, too, and Josh takes the time to show you what he finds.

Same small part. One important difference. Look at the pin. 🔎

In Part 4 of this AC repair series, Josh compares the old Schrader valve’s bent pin with the straight pin on the replacement.

In the previous video, he explained how the damaged valve wasn’t seating properly, allowing refrigerant to leak. Here, you can see what the new valve should look like as he moves into the refrigerant charging stage.

This is the attention to detail we want homeowners to see: identifying the problem, showing the damaged component, and explaining the next step—not just telling you your air conditioner needs service.

Next in Part 5: the missing seal inside the service cap. Another small detail Josh checks before finishing the job.

A bent pin was keeping this AC valve from sealing properly.

In Part 3 of our AC leak investigation, Josh shows another detail on the removed Schrader valve: the pin is bent. He explains how that prevented the valve from seating properly and allowed refrigerant to leak.

This service call started with an air conditioner that wasn’t keeping up. Josh found low refrigerant, located a leaking service valve, and then inspected the damaged part. In the previous video, he showed the deteriorated seal. Now you can see why the valve itself wasn’t closing the way it should.

For homeowners, this is what a closer look at AC troubleshooting can reveal. The cooling complaint is what you notice inside your home; the explanation can come down to a small component outside.

We share these real service calls so you can see what Josh finds and understand the reasoning behind the repair.

Next in Part 4: what the replacement valve looks like.

This tiny seal was coming apart inside the leaking AC valve.

In Part 1, Josh investigated an air conditioner that wasn’t keeping up, found low refrigerant, and identified a leaking service valve. Now he’s showing the removed part up close.

In Part 2 of our AC leak investigation, Josh points out the deteriorated O-ring on the Schrader valve—the small component he’s preparing to replace before recharging the air conditioning system.

It’s a detail most homeowners would never see. But showing the actual part helps connect the cooling complaint to what Josh discovered during the service call.

That’s why we share these behind-the-scenes HVAC videos: you deserve to understand what we find and what we’re recommending, not just hear that your system needs work.

Next in Part 3: Josh shows the bent pin and explains why the valve wasn’t seating properly. Follow along for the next step.

Their AC wasn’t keeping up. Josh found a refrigerant leak at a small valve.

In Part 1 of this AC leak investigation, Josh checks a customer’s air conditioning system after a complaint about poor cooling. The refrigerant level was low—and a closer look revealed a leaking service valve.

That’s the value of showing the actual service call: you get to see what Josh checks, what he finds, and the details behind the next step. A small component becomes much easier to understand when you can see it up close.

This is the beginning of the investigation. In Part 2, Josh shows the removed valve and the damaged seal.

A refrigerant leak search uncovered a severely kinked AC line—and another problem at the coil.

On this service call in Mountain House, Josh takes a closer look at the air conditioning equipment in the attic.

The first finding is hard to miss: a section of the refrigerant line is bent so severely that it is nearly collapsed. Josh explains that, based on what he’s seeing, the damage has been there since installation.

He then moves to the coil, points out oil residue, and identifies a coil leak.

Those are separate findings, and both belong in the conversation about what the system needs next. The visible damage to the line doesn’t make the rest of the inspection any less important.

For homeowners, this is the value of an explanation you can actually see. Josh shows the affected components, describes what he’s finding, and connects those observations to his recommendation.

The clip documents the inspection. The repair and final operating results aren’t shown yet.
