Is the Recommended EPA action level of 4.0 safe?

There is no level of “safe” radon exposure. Successfully mitigating a home or building is a fairly straightforward process; however, many companies are comfortable doing the bare minimum to get levels below the recommended action level of 4.0 picocuries per liter (pCi/L). But there are no truly safe levels of radon exposure. As a licensed radon professional, I do not cut corners.
