🔥 Here’s something you may not know…

A big change is coming: DOE’s new efficiency standard will effectively phase out new 80% AFUE residential gas furnaces covered by the rule beginning in December 2028, requiring a minimum 95% AFUE.

That could make a difference in how future furnace replacements are installed—especially in older homes currently using traditional 80% furnaces.

It’s still hot and we are still working on air conditioners coming into the first week of Fall here in Central Arkansas ☀️🥵, it won’t be long before we’re servicing and replacing gas furnaces! 🔥

If your gas furnace is getting some age on it, this is something worth knowing and planning for.

THE PRODUCT:Furnaces are the most common type of home heating equipment in the United States. Furnaces burn natural gas, propane, or oil for heat and use a fan to distribute the heat through a duct system.

🌡️ 100° outside… but comfort is about more than temperature.

This American Standard inverter heat pump system is keeping this foam encapsulated home in Central Arkansas at an impressive 51% relative humidity at 77° indoor temperature on a 100° summer day.
The homeowner says she gets TOO cold keeping her thermostat at 72° like she did at her old house.

Why does that matter?

✅ Better comfort at the same thermostat setting
✅ Reduced “sticky” feeling indoors
✅ Helps protect hardwood floors, furniture, and your home from excess moisture
✅ More consistent temperatures with fewer hot and cold swings
✅ Higher efficiency thanks to inverter technology that adjusts output instead of constantly starting and stopping

Humidity control is one of the biggest differences homeowners notice when upgrading to a quality inverter system. It’s not just about cooling your home—it’s about creating a healthier, more comfortable indoor environment.

If you’re ready to experience the difference, we’d be happy to help you find the right system for your home.

☀️🔥 Looks like we’re heading into the hottest week of the year so far, just in time for the holiday weekend! 🇺🇸

We are a small shop but will do our best to get you going again if you’re in the Central AR area. We will be scheduling no-cooling emergency calls during the day between our already scheduled installations and repair appointments, as availability allows.

A few reminders during this extreme heat:
💧 Stay hydrated if you’re working or spending time outdoors.
🌡️ Check and replace your HVAC air filter if it’s dirty to help your system run efficiently.
🔋 Replace your thermostat batteries if your thermostat uses them—it’s a simple step that can prevent unexpected issues.

We plan to observe Independence Day, Friday July 3rd.🎆🇺🇸🎇

Thank you for your patience during this busy season. We appreciate the opportunity to serve our community and hope everyone has a safe, cool, and enjoyable holiday weekend!

Forecast heat index values are expected to peak in the 90s to well over 100 degrees Monday and Tuesday. The hottest conditions are expected along the Arkansas River Valley and Mississippi Delta regions of the state, where heat index values will be over 105 degrees to around 110 degrees.

☀️💧 Hydration & Electrolytes: Don’t Let the Arkansas Heat Win! 💧☀️

As temperatures and humidity climb across Arkansas, staying hydrated becomes more than just a comfort issue—it’s a safety issue. Whether you’re working outdoors, exercising, mowing the lawn, or spending time at the lake, your body loses both water and essential electrolytes through sweat.

✅ Drink water consistently throughout the day.
✅ Use electrolyte supplements during prolonged outdoor activity or heavy sweating.
✅ Take breaks in the shade or air conditioning when possible.
✅ Watch for signs of dehydration: headache, dizziness, fatigue, muscle cramps, nausea, and dark-colored urine.

📊 Heat & Hydration Facts
🔹 The human body is approximately 60% water.
🔹 Losing just 2% of your body weight from dehydration can reduce physical and mental performance.
🔹 Relative humidity above 60% makes it harder for sweat to evaporate, increasing heat stress.
🔹 Even mild dehydration can reduce productivity and endurance by 10–20%.
🔹 During strenuous outdoor work, some people can lose 1–2 liters of sweat per hour.

💦 How Much Water Should You Drink?
• Men: About 125 ounces (3.7 liters) daily
• Women: About 91 ounces (2.7 liters) daily

If you’re working outside in the summer heat, you may need significantly more than these amounts.

⚡ Using Electrolyte Supplements
• For outdoor work lasting more than 1–2 hours in high heat, consider alternating water with an electrolyte drink.
• Follow the mixing instructions on the product label. More is not always better.
• Electrolytes help replace sodium, potassium, and other minerals lost through sweat.
• Continue drinking plain water throughout the day—electrolytes are meant to supplement hydration, not replace water.
• If your sweat leaves white salt stains on clothing or you experience frequent cramping, electrolyte replacement may be especially beneficial.

From all of us at McGhee HVAC Service Company, stay cool, stay hydrated, and take care of yourself during these hot Arkansas summer months. Your health is just as important as getting the job done! ❄️💙☀️
