Not all of our projects are residential or multifamily. And really the services that we offer are not limited just by project type. The reality is as architects what we really provide are design services that overcome challenges for our clients. The project type generally is secondary.

For this project, we were approached by a local bank here in Arkansas that was looking to expand their presence in Little Rock. What we designed would have become their new prototype bank branch, which is drive-thru only. Unfortunately, this project was unbuilt.

One of the first projects I completed as a firm owner was this proposed porch reconstruction for a 1872 Victorian home in the MacArthur Park district in Little Rock. The home unfortunately succumbed to fire and was completely destroyed. I always wondered two things:

What would it have looked like completed? To answer that I put it into AI and the result is spot on.

But I’ve also always wondered, what if we took classical designs, like Victorian or Georgian or Neo-Classical, and gave them a modern aesthetic? Images 3 and 4 are a modern take on a classical theme. The proportions of Victorian homes are what make them so beautiful with taller more exaggerated windows, door transoms, tall ceilings, and cornice detailing.

LITTLE ROCK DESERVES MORE THAN PERMIT-READY PLANS.

As an architect specializing in affordable housing, I support urban infill. But Little Rock's proposed Permit-Ready Program risks addressing the symptoms rather than the problem.

The City's own survey raises five concerns:

1️⃣ AFFORDABILITY FIRST.
98% prioritize attainable housing. Free architectural plans won't overcome high land, infrastructure, and construction costs.
2️⃣ FIX ZONING FIRST.
Restrictive setbacks, parking requirements, and outdated zoning remain barriers to infill development.
3️⃣ PROTECT NEIGHBORHOOD CHARACTER.
94% value compatibility. Standardized designs cannot address every historic neighborhood or unique lot.
4️⃣ SUPPORT LOCAL PROFESSIONALS.
Publicly funded plans must not undermine small architectural firms serving local homeowners and developers.
5️⃣ MEASURE REAL RESULTS.
Only 61% believe the program will help. Where are the cost estimates, funding strategies, and housing-production goals?

We don't need more plans sitting on shelves. We need policies that make building housing possible at multiple scales.

Our commercial portfolio has been growing over the last 2 years. Here are three projects that have completed design and are either nearing completion or are under construction.

White Oak Crossing Development in Maumelle, Arkansas
- New strip center and pickleball courts
White Oak Retail Center in Ozark, Arkansas

Each design was uniquely crafted to suit the developers tastes with a decidedly modern aesthetic while maximizing interior square footage, minimizing site disturbance, and providing opportunity for new businesses to grow and flourish.

12 YEARS OF SERVICE. READY FOR WHAT’S NEXT.
Public service didn't start for me when I decided to run for City Director. For the past 12 years, I’ve volunteered my professional experience to the City of Little Rock working directly with staff on the decisions that shape our neighborhoods, buildings, development, and future.

Historic District Commission.
Board of Adjustment.
Construction Board of Appeals.
Central Arkansas Housing Corporation
Planning Commission.

That experience has given me a firsthand view of how City Hall works—and where I believe Little Rock needs to move faster and invest more. This campaign is about a different approach to the next four years for our Ward.
I will be more proactive about neighborhood reinvestment, infrastructure, housing, responsible development, historic preservation, and the quality of the places we experience every day.

My record of service shows where my priorities have been long before I became a candidate.

The question now is: what should Ward 1 accomplish over the next four years?

It’s been an exciting couple of weeks. We’ve met with a number of new potential clients for a range of projects including historic preservation, residential additions, multifamily rehabs, and restaurant hospitality.

This morning we are coordinating a roof repair scope for contractor bidding on one of our Pine Bluff historic projects. Working with skilled tradesmen is key to any successful project.

Today’s site visit brought us to this beautiful historic home in the heart of Hillcrest. The owners have a number of projects planned that all touch each other and so we are providing overall master planning design services for them to be able envision the full scope of work. Interior renovations to first and second floor, new additions, new porch, landscaping, and hardscaping.

Hiring an architect is not limited to just “the drawings”. The process and expertise that we bring to a project to understand how each piece works together and how we can phase overtime to reduce costs and focus on livability.

Yesterday we made a trip down to Pine Bluff with the guys from Haney Contractors, LLC to do some investigation on the roof of the historic Saenger Theatre. I may be terrified of heights but I ain’t no punk, so….yeah. Made it up and down safely, manhood intact. Didn’t cry once, I promise.

We’re excited to be considered for the larger restoration of this iconic and beautiful theatre - one of only 8 left in the country and the only one not yet restored. Stay tuned.
