Soundgarden are now targeting 2027 for the release of their long awaited final album featuring Chris Cornell. Guitarist Kim Thayil revealed the band is continuing work on material written and partially recorded with Cornell before his passing, with the project currently expected to include around nine songs.

Speaking with Ultimate Guitar, Thayil said he, Matt Cameron, and Ben Shepherd remain focused on finishing the record the right way, balancing studio time with other commitments while carefully deciding which songs can be completed. Calling it Soundgarden's final studio album, he emphasized the importance of honoring both the band's legacy and Cornell's, adding that discussions about live performances can wait until the album is finished.

It's wild how 110° in the desert feels like only 85-90° in the south to me. Nursing a bad brake and wheel bearing. Repacked it by scraping grease off miscellaneous areas of the truck, and my floor Jack handle. Brads been a big help. Trying for Flagstaff tonight.
