Painting inside in the winter isn't what it used to be.

The paints we use now are low odor and low VOC, so you can sleep in the room the same night in most cases. We still ventilate, still keep the dust down, still put the furniture back where we found it.

If you've been putting off an interior because of the smell, that's a solved problem.

Why we put on two coats.

One coat usually looks fine the day we leave. Then the sun hits it, or you wash a scuff off the hallway, and the old color starts to ghost through.

Two coats is what gets you an even sheen and a finish that still looks right in five years. It's not an upsell, it's the job.

Booking spring exteriors already.

It sounds early. It isn't. The good April and May weeks go to people who called in the fall, and by March we're quoting into June.

If your siding, trim or deck is on the list for next year, we can walk it now, put a real number on it, and hold a week for you. No deposit to get on the calendar.

Three rooms your holiday guests actually see.

The front entry, the room where everyone sits, and the powder room. That's where coats get hung, where people stand around talking, and the one door every guest opens.

If you only do a little before Thanksgiving or Christmas, do those. Most of the time it's two or three days of work for us, not a whole-house job.

What's in a paint quote from us, and what isn't.

In: prep, patching and caulk, taping and masking, drop cloths, primer where it's needed, two finish coats of the product we name on the estimate, cleanup at the end of every day, and the labor to move and put back your furniture.

Not in unless we write it in: drywall replacement, rot repair, wallpaper removal, and any color change that needs a third coat. If we see one of those during the walkthrough, we price it separately so you know what it is instead of finding it on the final bill.

Commercial and rental owners: winter is our open season.

Once exteriors shut down for the year, our interior calendar opens up. That's the easiest time to get an office, shop, hallway or rental unit painted without anybody tripping over us - we can work evenings, weekends, or between tenants.

If you know a space needs paint before spring, get on the January or February schedule now and pick your dates instead of taking what's left.

What primer actually does.

People think primer is an extra coat we add to the bill. It isn't. Primer is what makes the finish coat stick and stay one color. Raw drywall drinks paint unevenly. Patches flash through. Bare wood bleeds tannin. Smoke, water stains and dark colors come back through two coats of finish if you skip it.

We spot-prime or full-prime depending on what the wall actually needs, and we'll tell you which one we're doing and why.

Get the estimate now. Paint when it suits you.

A walkthrough takes about twenty minutes and costs nothing. You get the number in writing, and if you'd rather have the work done in November, or after the holidays, we hold the date for you.

It beats trying to find a painter the week before company shows up.

Who's actually in your house.

When we paint an interior, it's our own crew, in Awe Paint shirts, same faces from start to finish. No day labor picked up that morning. We put down drop cloth on everything, we move what needs moving, and we put the room back together before we leave.

That matters more than most people say out loud. You're handing someone the key to your house.

School's back in, and the hallway shows it.

The spots that wear out first in a house are the ones everybody touches: the hallway, the stairwell wall, the mudroom, the doors and door frames. You don't need to repaint the house to fix that. A scuff-resistant repaint on those few surfaces makes the whole place feel clean again, and it's usually a one or two day job.
