Job Title Carpenter
Reports to Owner
Status/Compensation Full Time/Hourly ($15-$20) depending on experience
Location Kennebec, Androscoggin, Cumberland Counties

Job Purpose
The purpose of the Carpenter is to work directly with the company owner to prepare for and implement carpentry work. No formal training is required for this position, though a background in a construction field is a plus. N.E. Carpentry offers daily opportunities for learning and growth within the carpentry field and is seeking a motivated candidate to join the team and grow the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Clean work areas, company trailer, machines, and/or equipment to maintain a clean and safe job site and work area.
• Gather and load materials and equipment for transfer to job sites.
• Demolition and prep-work.
• Rough carpentry such as framing, decks, and siding.
• Finish carpentry such as cabinet making and installation, counter tops, molding, and tiling.
• Sanding, painting, and staining.
• Organizing and cleaning company trailer, tools, and equipment.
• Cleaning up job sites after work is completed.

Qualifications
A background or formal training in carpentry or construction trades is a plus, but not required. Candidates should possess:
• An excellent work ethic and willingness to grow in the trade.
• An eagerness to learn, follow directions and try new things.
• Exceptional customer service skills.
• The ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
• Punctuality and the ability to meet and exceed expectations.
• Personal responsibility, accountability and a commitment to safety.
• A drive for high quality work and the ability to receive and implement criticism and redirection.
• Flexibility and a positive attitude.

Applicants will need to be able to work with the following tools and equipment. Working knowledge is a plus:
• Nail Guns
• Power Drills
• Saws: table saw, chop saw, skill saws, etc.

Applicants must have reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license. Applicants must possess their own set of basic hand tools (tool belt, hammer, square, tape measure, safety glasses, nail puller, etc.)

Working Conditions
The working conditions for the Carpenter vary by assignment and by season. Applicants need to be able to work outdoors in hot or cold conditions. Applicants must be comfortable with heights and working on ladders and/or scaffolding. Most work is done during normal weekday hours, but applicants should be willing to be flexible when evening or weekend work is required.

Physical Requirements
Carpentry can be physically demanding. Applicants should be able to stand for long periods of time, lift heavy objects on a regular basis and complete repetitive tasks with few breaks.
