🍂 A Day to Reflect on History, Land, and Tradition 🌱
Today is recognized as Columbus Day, Indigenous Peoples’ Day, and Farmer’s Day.
These observances bring different parts of our history and traditions into focus.
Indigenous peoples have long-standing relationships with the land, including traditions of growing and gathering food. Farmers continue the essential work of feeding our communities, while gardeners and homesteaders carry on traditions of growing, preserving, and sharing what the land provides.
Here on our little homestead in the Smoky Mountains, we’re grateful for the land we tend, the food we grow, and the opportunity to preserve a little of that harvest for the months ahead. 💚
May we continue to appreciate the land, learn from the past, and respect the people and traditions that have shaped our relationship with it.
