When purchasing a custom house plan or a pre-drawn house plan (stock plan), please be aware that the following applies to your purchase as it pertains to copyright law:
-- Purchasing a set of blueprints or construction drawings transfers no right of ownership of the plan to the purchaser. Instead, the purchaser is purchasing a limited license to use that house plan to construct a single home.
-- The blueprints or construction drawings may not be lent or sold by the purchaser.
-- Reproducing blueprints, plans or renderings in any form without the consent of the creator is in violation of the law.

UNDERSTANDING COPYRIGHT
Blueprints are more than pieces of paper. They reflect countless hours of creative thinking, drafting and re-working of drawings and then finalizing of set of house plan blueprints.

LICENSE OF USE
When you purchase a set of construction plans from Mark Henry Smith Residential Design / PlanSmith Design, you are purchasing a license to construct a single home only.
Multiple uses are not permitted. Any duplication, reuse, sale or publication in whole or in part beyond the license to construct a single home is subject to copyright infringement laws and faces possible litigation for damages.
IN SUMMARY:
1. House plans are protected as intellectual property under Federal Law and violations are subject to severe financial penalties.
2. It is against Federal Law to either copy or modify a design displayed on this site without the purchase of the appropriate license or written permission.
3. Any set of construction plans purchased from Mark Henry Smith Residential Design / PlanSmith Design comes with a license for the construction of a single house. Multiple uses are not permitted.

Changes!

Mark Henry Smith Residential Design is the name I will be using for my custom home business with a focus on rural design (farm & ranch, ranchettes, barndominiums, etc.).

PlanSmith Home Design is still alive and kicking but will be geared more toward builders and their specific needs. Custom homes subject to city plan review will also be designed under the PlanSmith name. Both companies will fall under the parent company of PlanSmith Design, limiting custom projects to Palo Pinto, Parker, Hood, and Erath counties.

This is my 40th year as a professional home designer. My passion is designing authentic period exteriors with up to date, efficient floor plans. Authentic farm house, Texas Hill Country, Mediterranean, mid-century modern, and contemporary are my specialties. Barndominiums, cabins, and expandable starter homesteads are my bread and butter.
