🧂 Winter is hard on concrete. Here's how we protect it.
When water and salt water soak into a driveway or sidewalk, they freeze and expand inside the concrete. De-icing salt adds even more freeze-thaw cycles, and over time the surface starts to scale and spall. We help guard against that with SURF-GUARD SB 40, a 40% solvent-based silane water repellent.
It's the same type of sealer state DOTs use on bridge decks. In one Oklahoma DOT study of 60 bridges, every silane-treated deck was still protecting the concrete at 12 years.
✅ Soaks deep into the concrete with no film, so there's nothing to peel
✅ Helps protect against de-icing salts and freeze-thaw damage
✅ Helps resist scaling, spalling, efflorescence and staining from water intrusion
✅ Breathable, so moisture can still escape
Checking it is easy. Splash some water on it each year. As long as it beads up, you're protected, and when it starts soaking in, it's time to reseal.
Want to do it yourself? It's an easy DIY project, and you can pick up SURF-GUARD SB 40 from us. If you'd rather leave it to us, we'll be glad to give you a free estimate on installation.
It won't repair damage that's already there, and brand-new concrete needs time to cure first, so ask us about yours. It needs to be at least 40°F during application and for at least 8 hours afterward, so now is the time to get it done.
Proudly serving Jefferson City, Columbia, Linn and the Lake of the Ozarks.
