Honda, Nissan, and Mitsubishi are officially teaming up under a single holding company to tackle global competition. This partnership, announced in a joint statement by Honda and Nissan, positions the trio to become the world’s third-largest automaker.

The merger, set to finalize by August 2026, builds on recent collaborations between Honda and Nissan, including joint efforts in zero-emission and autonomous driving technologies.

The partnership’s impact on Mitsubishi and customer experience remains unclear, with Honda’s Toshihiro Mibe emphasizing that discussions are still in early stages.

However, Nissan’s CEO Makoto Uchida expressed confidence in the alliance’s potential to deliver innovative products. Whether this merger is enough to compete with EV leaders like Tesla and BYD remains to be seen.

New Family Tradition
Every year my girls get a trash bag(s) and fill it with toys and stuff animals that they no longer play with, they then put under the Tree for Santa to take back to North Pole, and he can fix them up and give them to children next year. I love doing this with them, and they absolutely love it! (I will take bags to Salvation Army or a Toy drop for Children)

I love this idea and more should do it

After Christmas comes-and-goes, it will be time for your Christmas tree to go – with one great option being the “Chipper” that will repurpose your fine pine for free.

The City has partnered with Casey Tree Experts for our next Bring One for the Chipper tree “recycling” event. This 2025 edition (yes, time to get a new calendar!) will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, January 4, in the Milton High School baseball parking lot (accessible at 13025 Birmingham Highway or via the Freemanville Road entrance).

After taking off its ornaments, all people need to do is bring their tree to the Milton High lot and the “experts” will take it from there.

While you’re dropping off a past-its-prime tree, you can pick up a new young one that could soon be thriving in your yard. The City will be handing out 75 Flowering Dogwood seedlings on a first-come, first-served basis at this same event. (And you can pick up a seedling even if you don’t bring a Christmas tree.) This is part of our Plant! Milton initiative to encourage, engage, and educate on tree planting and care; to learn more, go to www.miltonga.gov/PlantMilton.

Those who’d rather stay home that Saturday, or perhaps who want to support do-gooding local children, can have their tree picked up by Scouts from BSA Troop 841. They’ll pay a small fee to benefit the Troop and its activities. To learn more about and sign-up for this 24th annual pick-up fundraiser can go to https://www.t841.org/?page_id=300.

Now is the time to prune your fruit trees...
the best time to prune apple and pear trees is now, before spring officially arrives.

“This is the time of year when the temperature starts to warm up and there’s less danger of interfering with the natural hardiness when you prune,” said Renae Moran, University of Maine Cooperative Extension fruit tree specialist and associate professor of pomology (the science of growing fruit) for UMaine’s School of Food and Agriculture.
