Winter prep starts before the first snowfall!

We’re up on a commercial roof in Lexington installing snow bars on a metal roof. Last winter brought plenty of snow and ice, and this building experienced large amounts sliding off the metal roof onto the lower *TPO* (I misspoke! Oops) roof.

Snow bars help hold snow and ice in place, allowing it to release more gradually rather than all at once. It’s a relatively simple addition that can help protect lower roof sections and prevent a lot of headaches when winter weather hits.

A little preparation now can make a big difference later! 🏠

This homeowner got what they were owed because we knew what we were looking at.

We were approved to replace the shingles on this home, and it would have been easy to go on autopilot: tear off the old roof, put the new one on, and move on.

But when we exposed the old slatted decking, we found gaps larger than the Âź-inch maximum allowed by Kentucky code.

We recognized the problem, stopped the job, documented what we found, and worked with the insurance company to get the full re-deck approved and covered.

That’s the difference knowledge and attention to detail can make. We don’t just tear off and put a roof back on—we pay attention to what’s underneath it.

Sometimes the most important part of a roofing job is what you find after the old roof comes off.

On this home, the existing decking was older 1x6 boards with gaps exceeding the 1/4” spacing allowed by Kentucky code for the new roofing system.

Rather than install the new roof over decking that didn’t meet the requirements, we are working with the homeowner’s insurance company to replace the decking across the entire home.

That means the new roof is being installed over a proper, code-compliant deck — not just covering up an existing problem.

And just like that… the roof is COMPLETE. 🖤

This one was a big one — and there’s nothing quite like walking across the finished roof and taking it all in.

One major piece of this build is officially checked off the list.
