This carex gets tall and needs a summer cut. In the past I’ve done this with hand clippers and hedge trimmers but still struggled with it. This was a breeze and so much faster!

In light of getting none of the projected rain today, I have to say I’m quite concerned. I’ve started calling this year ‘Dust Bowl 2026’. My clients yards are struggling. The ground is cracking open and is hard as concrete if it is clay soil, or it’s fine powder other wise. Plants aren’t growing well unless irrigated and the trees are already starting to struggle. I’m literally covered in dust by the end of the day. So if you are hoping it doesn’t rain for whatever personal reasons…stop it. Start doing rain dances, praying, or whatever it is that you believe in because without rain filling up the ground water, we all suffer.

Sometimes you never know what’s going to happen. I had just checked over this tree a couple hours before we heard cracking. We couldn’t tell where it was coming from but knew something was about to fall and fall it did…10ft away from Haylie!! Seemingly healthy limb, but in a declining locust. Everyone is ok minus a couple fried nerves.

The witchhazel likely isn’t going to make it. Seems like some bugs chomped it and that caused some galls making this a ‘that’s all she wrote’ type situation.
We reseeded the upper meadow after the mowers took out the annual meadow mix…it’s late to be doing this but we are trying anyways!
Deer fencing was needed to protect some shrubs.
All those bare spots in the field….those are future meadow plots now!
All in a days work!

Haylie and I have been working hard to get weeds under control and new native plants established on a meadow bank. This client likes blues, purple, light pinks and white so we have very intentionally selected plants to make this project happen.
Patience is a virtue though…check back in a year for full results!

We’d like to give a big shout out to Bugs at Root 11 Native Plant nursery for the wonderful additions to this project!!

Sometimes the cool crystal treasure rocks I find are left somewhere neat at my clients. I wonder if they ever find them?
Today I got multiple jobs and many errands done!! Killed some weeds, bad bugs and enjoyed the view.

I tested out a bed defining attachment today in my personal garden. It’s not as good as a big clunky bed edger….but when you can’t seem to get a decent and working piece of equipment from the rental place, you pivot!
