Today this greenhouse became something more.

It became the place a dream came to life.

Where an idea turned into income.

Where a small business was born.

This awesome woman had been dreaming about turning her passions into a business…
and this greenhouse was a major step in making that happen!

So, here’s a big congratulations to Desiree for her new company: Hazels’ Homestead! 🐐🌱

She’s opening May 15th with greenhouse goodies, fizzy drinks, goats for petting & much more!

Sure, we love to build.
Sure, we find joy in our designs coming to life.

But nothing beats the smiles on people’s faces when we pull into their yard with their building.

The look on their face when they see their vision complete.
When their dreams finally become reality.

Yes, we build because we love it…
But really, we build for you ā˜ŗļø

There’s a reason we don’t use glassšŸ‘‡

ā€œWhy don’t you use glass?ā€ We get this question a lot.

Short answer: glass is old technology.

Glass was used years ago because it was clear, cheap and easy to make.
But it is actually not very good for plants… especially in Maine.

Glass lets ALL of the sun come in and out.
The good… and the bad šŸ™…

That means:
• Plants get leaf burn
• Soil dries out fast
• The space heats up fast… and cools off just as fast

We use double-wall polycarbonate instead.

Our polycarbonate has tiny air pockets inside of it that work to keep plants safe and warm.

Polycarbonate:
• Lets in the helpful light
• Blocks the dangerous UV rays
• Spreads the light out so plants get full light
• Holds in the warmth from the sun

So plants still get the full benefits of sunshine — just not the parts that hurt them.

Glass is outdated.
Polycarbonate is modern technology.

Seasonal depression who?

We don’t just build greenhouses, we create winter sunrooms, backyard spas, coffee rooms, plant paradises, and quiet outdoor escapes… 20 steps from your back door.

The actual science:
Our Ā¾ā€ double wall polycarbonate panels trap air like a thermopane window and capture solar heat from sunlight. On bright winter days, interiors can run 30–55°F warmer than outside WITHOUT a heater.

Why let your property sit unused for 6 months of winter?

Enjoy your land all four seasons.

Happy wife, happy life. 🌷

Skip the flowers that fade in a week & give her year-round sunshine, a warm place in winter, and a space she can truly call her own.

A backyard greenhouse isn’t just for plants…
it’s morning coffee under the sun, spring in the middle of February, and flowers that come back every year.

Valentine’s Day is today… but Mother’s Day is closer than you think šŸ˜‰

Spring greenhouse installations now scheduling.

Thinking about adding a rental, Airbnb, guest house, or cabin to your property?

More and more Maine homeowners are taking advantage of their property and gaining extra space and income.

We design and build small buildings — cabins, cottages, vacation homes, backyard rentals, mini houses, studios, and ADUs — engineered specifically for Maine weather. Snow loads, wind, and frost heave aren’t afterthoughts here… they’re the starting point.

Whether you’re:
• creating an Airbnb or short-term rental
• adding a guest cottage for family
• building a hunting or lake camp
• setting up a backyard office or studio
• or finally making that small vacation place you’ve been talking about

We handle the design, construction, delivery, site-work and installation, so the building actually lasts season after season— not just the first winter.

Up to 1,100 sq ft.
Built locally in Lewiston, Maine.

Do you know the name of the rarest tree in the world?

At one point, this poor tree stood completely alone. It was the only one of its kind left on earth.

It grew on remote ocean cliffs where sea wind constantly sprayed it with salt. The salty blasts would cause most plants to burn up and die, but this one evolved thick, waxy leaves to protect itself.

For decades, scientists watched this lonely tree. It would grow, bud, and flower, but viable seeds almost never survived. Researchers realized its natural pollinators rarely reached the island, and with only one plant remaining, successful reproduction was nearly impossible.

In 1945, a tree lover carefully climbed the rocky cliff and took a small cutting from the wild tree.

Luckily, that cutting survived and every living tree of this species today exists because of it.

Can you guess the name of this tree?

Nobody knows the true struggles of gardening like us Mainers. We think summers finally here, then BOOM… another snowstorm! We buy the soil. The seeds (WAY too many seeds šŸ˜‚). The tools. Get everything planted, and then comes the late spring frost, the bugs, the weeds šŸ˜µā€šŸ’«ā€¦ and there goes half of our hard work.

We used to think greenhouses were ā€œthe easy way out.ā€ Now we know they simply level the playing field. They take away all the parts we hate, so we can do more of the parts we love: grow those veggies!

If you’re a gardener in Maine, we’d love to see pics of what you’ve grown! šŸ„’šŸ„¬šŸ«‘šŸŒ¶ļøšŸ«›šŸŒ½šŸ«œ
