A Beautiful First Wedding in the Moosehead Lake Region

Last weekend, I had the absolute pleasure of working with a beautiful bride and creating the florals for my first wedding in the Moosehead Lake Region. What a special way to celebrate this next chapter for Blended Blossoms Farm!

I wish I had gotten better photos of everything…the bouquets, boutonnières, corsages, and the sweetest little flower crown for the flower girl. Unfortunately, the day got away from me and I didn’t get the clear photos I had hoped for. But I’m so grateful I was able to capture a few photos of the arbor installation and some of the mason jar centerpieces.

And this color palette! The rich rusts, warm blush, deep burgundy, soft creams and dusty greens felt absolutely perfect for a late-summer Maine wedding. Using seasonal flowers, locally grown foliage and those beautiful, earthy tones made this one of my favorite palettes to work with.

There’s something incredibly special about creating wedding flowers with blooms grown right here in Maine and watching them come together for such an important day.

I’m so thankful to this beautiful couple for trusting Blended Blossoms Farm with their wedding flowers, and I’m especially excited that this was my first wedding in the Moosehead Lake Region. Here’s to many more!

It was a bit late when I got out to do one last harvest for the week.

I’m pretty sure the deer were a little annoyed with me I was evidently interrupting their buffet.

I had my phone propped up on my wagon with the flashlight on, so I knew it was getting dark, but I didn’t realize just how dark it had gotten until I turned around and saw the moon coming up over the trees, glowing on our home.

I stood there for a minute and just took it all in.

The quiet. The moonlight. A wagon full of flowers. Our home in the distance. This little piece of land that has become such a big part of our lives.

There’s something pretty special about ending a long day in the flower field like that.

One last harvest for the week, and a beautiful reminder of why I do what I do.

Grateful for this land, these flowers, the wildlife even the deer who think they own the place and all the little moments in between. 🌸

A little behind-the-scenes of the candles at Blended Blossoms Farm…

I don’t think I’ve ever really talked about the candles I make, but they’ve become a pretty fun part of the farm!

I started selling them at the market around Mother’s Day, and my summer scents have sold SO well that I’m down to just TWO left! So, naturally, it’s time to start working on the fall collection.

But I want to share a little about how I make them and why the ingredients matter to me.

I use American Soy Organics Millennium Soy Wax, a high-quality, all-natural soy wax specifically formulated for candles. Soy wax is plant-based and renewable, and I love that it gives me a beautiful, slow-burning candle without relying on paraffin wax. The quality of the wax makes a difference, not just in how the candle burns, but in how it holds and releases fragrance.

And just like I’m intentional about what I grow in my fields, I’m intentional about what goes into the candles I bring into your home.

I’m trying to choose fragrance oils that meet clean fragrance standards and be as mindful as possible about what I’m asking you to burn in your home. I’m not going to claim that a candle is completely “chemical-free” because fragrance itself is chemistry! But, I can be thoughtful about the materials I choose and the products I make.

The fun part…I’m not using premixed fragrance scents for these new blends. I’m working with individual scent elements and combining them myself to create the final fragrance.

So instead of ordering a bottle labeled “Fall Harvest” and pouring it into the wax, I’m building the scent from individual notes and trying to find the right combination, balance and strength to create something that smells delicious.

Basically, I’m making a candle the same way I make a flower arrangement:

Start with individual elements, figure out what works together, adjust and obsess over the details(a lot) hopefully creating something beautiful.

So… can you guess what scent I’m currently experimenting with from the fragrance elements in the photo?

I’ll give you a hint: it’s definitely giving FALL.

One. More. Week…until we officially enter the first “Ber” month of the year! September is knocking and apparently my creative brain has decided it’s time to start thinking about it!

Next week’s wedding color palette is rust and sage, so naturally… pumpkin spice is necessary for my creative development!

I’m calling it research.

Last week, I had the absolute joy of creating the florals for my great-niece’s wedding and watching all those little pieces come together was pretty darn special.

The vision was timeless and elegant: white flowers, soft greens, silvery foliage, and lots of natural garden texture. From the ceremony aisle arrangements and welcome sign, to all of the little bud vases, every piece was designed to feel like it belonged in this beautiful outdoor setting.

Hydrangeas, dahlias, lisianthus, eucalyptus, dusty miller, garden greens and so many little bits of texture came together to create a soft, romantic look without feeling overly formal.

And I have to say… seeing the bride walk down that aisle surrounded by flowers I had grown, gathered and designed for her was one of those moments that makes all the early mornings, muddy boots and endless work worth it.

Congratulations to my beautiful niece and her new husband. It was an honor to be part of your day.

A little wholesale magic headed out of the farm today.

Monday morning, I got a call from a local florist looking for flowers to bring a little farmhouse, just-picked, garden-grown feeling to life for a wedding happening this weekend.

Well… that’s something I can definitely help with!

So today we’re sending off a little bundle of Maine grown goodness…cosmos, zinnias, calendula, grasses, and all the loose, airy, gardeny things that make a wedding feel like it was gathered straight from the backyard.

There’s something pretty special about watching local flowers make their way into more and more wedding work. And yes, Blended Blossoms Farm offers wholesale flowers to florists and designers, too.
