No water? It doesn’t necessarily mean your well has gone bad.

Your well is just one part of a larger system working together to get water from underground to your faucet. When something goes wrong, the problem could be the pump, pressure tank, electrical components, water lines or another part of the system.

That’s why properly diagnosing the problem matters! Before assuming you need a new well, it’s important to figure out which part of the system is actually causing the issue.

Knowing how the pieces work together can make your private well a little less of a mystery, and help you know when it’s time to call in the professionals!

A huge thank you to everyone who entered our Washington Town & Country Fair Season Pass Giveaway, followed our page, shared the giveaway, and helped make this year's campaign such a success. We were blown away by the support from our community!

Okay, deep breath. Here's where we landed.

Quick rewind for anyone new here. We started with one set of Washington Town & Country Fair tickets up for grabs, then promised to double it if we hit 1,000 followers. You blew past that in 24 hours. So we upped the ante: get us to 1,500 and we'd make it THREE.

This well, located west of Washington, is one of the oldest still-operating wells we've come across. It was drilled for a dairy farm and, because of its use, was officially logged with what was then known as the Missouri Bureau of Geology and Mines (now the Missouri Department of Natural Resources). The original well log from 1961 is pictured here.

It's pretty incredible to think that more than 60 years later, this well is still doing exactly what it was built to do!

We love preserving these pieces of local history and hearing the stories behind them. Do you know of an old well that's still in service? We'd love to hear about it in the comments!
