How do we continue to learn, improve and raise the standard of what we do?

For Alair’s project managers, it starts with understanding the details behind the build. Why building assemblies work. How materials and construction methods perform in practice. And how the right processes and decisions can influence the outcome of a project.

At our 2026 PM Summit in Denver, these questions were at the center of hands-on building science training, technical discussions and workshops. Project managers explored real-world construction challenges, examined different approaches and gained insights they can apply to their work in the field.

Our vendor partners brought another valuable perspective, sharing their technical expertise, product knowledge and experience from across the industry. These conversations created space to ask questions, exchange feedback and explore solutions to the challenges our teams encounter on projects.

Ultimately, improving how we build requires more than experience alone. It takes curiosity, a willingness to challenge what we know and a commitment to continually refining our approach.

That’s the value of investing in technical knowledge and bringing industry expertise into the conversation.

Every one of these homes started as a conversation at someone's kitchen table.

Swipe through a few of the projects we have built and remodeled across Caldwell County. Different families, different budgets, different problems to solve. The same crew showed up for all of them.

Best of Caldwell is not really about us. It is a list of the businesses this county wants to keep.

We would be proud to be on it. We would be prouder still if you went through the whole ballot and voted for the plumber, the diner, the shop, and the people who make Lenoir and Caldwell County a place worth building in.

We had a wonderful night at the NCHBA Stars Awards Gala on Monday, and we came home with something special!

Alair Homes Hickory was honored with the award for Best Single Family Custom Home Under 2,500 Square Feet!

This home was never about size. It was about building a home that fit the way our clients actually live, with every square foot working hard and nothing wasted. Seeing that recognized alongside builders from across North Carolina means a lot to our whole team.

Thank you to the NC Home Builders Association and Builders Mutual for a great evening, to our trade partners who brought this home to life, and most of all to the clients who trusted us with it.

Three years as our site supervisor. Three years of walking the job before the crews arrive, catching the detail that would have cost a week, and holding the standard when it would be easier not to.

Demo is done. Drywall is going up. LifeStore Insurance in Lenoir is officially underway.

This is the stage where a renovation stops looking like the old space and does not yet look like the new one. Ceilings open, walls being hung and mudded, everything protected and staged for what comes next.

Commercial or residential, the process is the same. Plan it, price it honestly, and keep the client in the room the whole way.

Not every stage of a renovation looks like the finish line. Right now this one looks like ram board, ladders, and a shop vac in the middle of the room. But look up.

The beams are stained and set. The pine ceiling is in. The fireplace wall is laid and the recessed lighting is live. The deck is framed in cedar with hog wire panels and the glass overhead door is hung. Two months ago none of that existed.

This is the part of the process most people never see, and it is the part that decides whether the finished house feels right. We keep our clients in it the whole way, so there are no surprises when the protection comes off the floors.
