Another productive day on the Grandfather project. 🪨

More topsoil deliveries, more grading, and more progress. The HDPE pipe has now been secured and covered, making the walk to the backyard smooth, accessible, and ready for the next phase of the project.

What was once a construction zone is beginning to feel like a landscape.

We’re also preparing for another natural focal point in the backyard—one that we’re especially excited about. We’ll reveal that feature in the next Grandfather project update.

Stay tuned. The best part may still be ahead.

Day five of the Grandfather project. 🪨

Today was all about moving material. Several loads of topsoil arrived as we continued shaping the landscape and covering the 24-inch HDPE pipe that was installed to handle heavy mountain rainfall and protect the property for years to come.

The pace may slow a bit with rain in the forecast, but the work continues. Large projects like this are built one step at a time, and we’re making steady progress every day.

We’re thankful for a hardworking crew, great equipment, and the opportunity to build something special in these mountains.

Stay tuned — there’s still a lot of transformation ahead!

An awesome week in the mountains of North Carolina. 🪨

We love this photo, taken from our dump truck as we made our way up the mountain at sunrise. Moments like these remind us how fortunate we are to work in such a beautiful place.

We’re grateful for a hardworking crew that shows up every day ready to get the job done, and we’re excited for another week of building, creating, and making progress.

See you at sunrise.

Back at The Lodge project in Blowing Rock. 🌿

We added plants and fresh mulch to the landscape beds, bringing color, texture, and life to the project. There’s something special about delivery day — seeing the plants arrive and watching the landscape begin to come together.

The boulders and structure provide the foundation, but the plants are what make a landscape feel alive.

New project underway! We’re calling it the Bank Wall Project. 🪨

This one will keep us busy for the next 2–3 weeks. We’re starting with excavation and footer installation before building a block wall, facing it with natural stone, and finishing the back with stucco.
Projects like this are all about creating structure, stability, and a finished look that feels right at home in the landscape.

We’re excited to get started and bring you along for the process.

Stay tuned — this one is going to be a transformation.

One of the most inspiring moments from the Grandfather project. 🪨🌿

We came across a natural boulder with a mountain laurel growing right on top of it. You couldn’t design it any better than nature already has.

As landscape designers and builders, we do our best to mimic what Mother Nature does so well — blending stone, water, plants, and elevation changes into something that feels natural and timeless.

This boulder reminded us that some of the best design ideas are already out there in the mountains around us.

Just a glimpse of one of the focal points of this landscape and a reminder of why we’re inspired by these mountains every day.

Day four of the Grandfather project. 🪨

More stone moving, site cleanup, and hauling culvert materials into the jobsite as the project continues to take shape. With two machines working at a steady pace, the progress is really starting to show.

One of our favorite parts of the project so far has been walking across the rock bridges and seeing how naturally they fit into the creek bed. Features like these add both function and character to the landscape.

We’re thankful for the beautiful mountain weather, a hardworking crew, and another productive day on the project.

It’s all coming together.

End of day three walk through. 🪨

The progress is really starting to show. After multiple boulder deliveries and countless careful placements, the dry creek bed is getting stronger, more defined, and more natural with each passing day.

Notice how the boulders blend into the landscape rather than sitting on top of it. That’s intentional. Every stone is placed to look like it belongs.

The rock bridges are another favorite feature — creating sturdy crossing points while maintaining the natural flow and character of the creek bed.

A lot of work goes into making something look effortless.

Wait til you see day four!
