This week, we're happy to join the industry in celebrating Construction Inclusion Week (CIW), focusing on the people behind the work. Each day this week our team is sharing stories and initiating conversations about how we can expand opportunity, empower growth, and cultivate belonging so everyone can build a career in our thriving industry. 💪

Every year, CIW helps open doors and build a workforce for everyone, creating change in the industry by building awareness and supporting the importance of physical and mental wellness. And this year is as important as ever, as we face a monumental need for more trade and construction professionals.

According to the CIW website, there's a demand for 350,000+ net new workers this year alone, and around 450,000+ by next year. This means our ability to attract, train, and retain a diverse workforce is no longer just a social goal, but rather an imperative need for industry growth.

It's not every day that our scaffolding crew gets to work alongside Shakespeare and Benjamin Franklin. But when the scaffold went up at the University of Washington's historic Suzzallo Library, the crew encountered these historic figures daily—their statues, at least.

As part of the $21.5 million renovation and seismic improvement project, PCI’s scaffold team designed and erected an access system to facilitate upgrades while protecting the library’s fragile, century-old materials and maintaining safe public access around the occupied building.

Our facilities are more than just an office: they're places where we learn together, celebrate each other, empower our communities, and develop long-lasting partnerships. 🏢 🤝

Our Indy prefab team spent time together to focus on Lean Construction principles, team building, and continuous improvement, finding methods along the way to strengthen the abilities of the crew and the day-to-day processes.

Our Portland team recently hosted Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici for an office and prefabrication facility tour, introducing her and her team to the benefits of employee-ownership and the latest innovations in the construction industry.

Last month, our Albany team collected school supplies and packed backpacks together for the Franklin Community Center in Saratoga Springs, helping local children start the school year with confidence and care.

Our Atlanta group held an open house event for nearby employees and partners, showcasing the new facility and introducing attendees to the variety of scopes that PCI can handle, including the pictured scaffold exhibit.

The PCI Atlanta team also hosted a friendly bake-off competition, which saw a variety of delicious entries and eventually named senior estimator, Jene J., as the winner!

When it comes to safety, we live it every day. But we never stop striving to be safer. 🦺

Project managers and engineers from around the country got together for Safety University last week to align on best practices and learn new techniques to keep our people and job sites safe. By attending Safety U, our team has the opportunity to sharpen their skills in various safety-related areas and collaborate on ways to strengthen our robust safety culture.

Our local golf tournaments are more than a day on the green. They are an opportunity to connect with partners and teammates while supporting causes that positively impact the communities we serve. 🙌

Many of our teams have been teeing up fun-filled days of friendly competition, networking, and giving back, and we're happy to see the impact it's making around the country.

⛳ Our Washington, D.C. team welcomed more than 130 attendees and 35 sponsors to their 5th annual tournament, helping raise more than $45,000 for the Wounded Warrior Project.

⛳ PCI Portland's annual golf tournament also helped raise more than $14,000 for the Wounded Warrior Project, while providing their local team and partners with prizes and unique swag along the way.

⛳ The Austin & San Antonio teams hosted a tournament that benefited the Jamaal Charles Youth Matters Family Foundation, where 144 attendees and 40+ sponsors helped raise $25,000 for the organization.

Last week, PCI leaders from around the nation got together for SuperCon, an event designed to help our ‘super-heroes’ improve their skills and elevate their teams.

Two dozen superintendents joined us to help improve their coaching & mentoring skills, learn new ways to communicate with their teams, and develop their abilities to be more present and available in their relationships. They enjoyed networking with other supers and local leaders, too.

"Meeting with my peers and corporate personnel was extremely valuable," added Indianapolis Prefab Superintendent, Tim Howard. "It opened a vast number of resources and connections that I had not utilized before attending this event."
