76° TODAY. 50° TONIGHT 🌡️

GUESS WHERE THEY’RE HEADED? 👀🏠

These warm fall days followed by chilly nights are the signal pests have been waiting for.

🐞 Stink bugs
🐞 Asian lady beetles
🕷️ Spiders
🐭 Mice
🪲 Boxelder bugs

They’re moving toward homes, garages and other structures looking for protected places to spend the colder months.

🍂 THIS is why timing matters for our FALL POWER SPRAY.

Summit treats the exterior of your home, focusing on the areas pests use to crawl, hide and gain entry, helping create a protective barrier before they settle in for winter.

And remember: treatment is only part of fall pest prevention. We can also identify cracks, gaps and potential entry points that may need sealed… especially when it comes to overwintering pests like stink bugs.

❄️ Don’t wait until they’re already inside.

🐝 IT AIN’T OVER YET!

Think summer winding down means the wasps and hornets are done? Not even close. 😅

September is PEAK season in Southwestern PA for some of the biggest, busiest nests of the year. Yellowjackets and bald-faced hornets have spent ALL summer building their colonies, and right now, they’re at their largest and most active.

We’ll continue seeing activity well into fall until colder temperatures and hard freezes finally shut things down.

So if you just spotted a giant nest and thought, “How did I not see THAT all summer?!” you’re definitely not alone. 😂

⚠️ Don’t wait for a sting to deal with it. If you’re seeing heavy activity or found a nest around your home or business, give us a call and let us take care of it safely.

BEAUTIFUL NEST… JUST DON’T GET TOO CLOSE. 😳

If you’ve noticed a large, gray, paper-like nest hanging from a tree, shrub, roofline, or structure, you may be looking at a bald-faced hornet nest.

Despite their name, bald-faced hornets aren’t actually true hornets, they’re a type of aerial yellowjacket. They’re black with distinctive white markings on their face and body, and they build some of the most impressive nests we see in pest control.

A few things to know:

🐝 They can be very defensive. Bald-faced hornets aggressively protect the area around their nest when they feel threatened.

🐝 They can sting repeatedly. Unlike honeybees, they don’t lose their stinger after one sting.

🐝 Their colonies get much larger as summer progresses. By late summer and early fall, a mature nest can contain hundreds of workers, which is why a nest that seemed harmless earlier in the season can suddenly become a much bigger concern.

🐝 Don’t knock it down or spray it from close range. Disturbing an active nest can cause multiple hornets to emerge at once and defend it.

See one somewhere you’d rather NOT have hundreds of angry roommates? 😂 Give us a call before you try to handle it yourself.
