Suckers and Stubs

When pruning trees such as crape myrtles, stubs should not be left when removing lateral branches. When stubs are left, numerous small shoots (watersprouts) may emerge. This is not architecturally what we want in our tree canopies. In addition to stubs, some trees (river birch, hollies, crape myrtles) have suckers that form at the base of trees due to improper pruning or mechanical damage at the soil line. The very young softwood growth on crape myrtles can be pulled off at the point of origin with your fingers. Be sure to prune these off all the way back to the point of origin. If you do this, regrowth will be less likely. If the base of the sucker is left, more suckers will return. Never use herbicides for management of suckers and stubs. Products such as Sucker Stopper® and Sucker Punch® can be used to chemically control sucker growth.

Sending love today to every heart carrying something heavy this Father’s Day. 🤍

To the dads giving their all, the dads-to-be dreaming of the days ahead, the single dads carrying double the weight, and the stepdads who chose to love.

To those missing their dads, those without a dad, those struggling to become a dad, and those walking through loss.

To those with complicated relationships and to the ones who stepped in and did the job of a dad when they didn’t have to.

May you be reminded today that God sees every joy, every sacrifice, every ache, and every unanswered prayer. You are not forgotten. You are deeply loved by the Father who never leaves, never fails, and never stops caring.

Happy Father’s Day. 🤍🙏🏻

Quiz Time!

To help spread the word about Alabama Snake Removers, here’s a quick quiz:

Which one is the Copperhead… A or B?

With the weather warming up and many people spending Memorial Day outdoors with family and friends, more people are hiking, grilling, fishing, gardening, and enjoying the long weekend. That also means a higher chance of running into snakes around homes, yards, lakes, and parks.

That’s where Alabama Snake Removers comes in!

Need a snake safely removed? We can help.
Need a snake identified? We’ve got you covered.
Want a yard inspection for snake activity or possible hiding spots? We can help with that too.

Drop your guess for the Copperhead below — A or B — and feel free to tag a friend to see if they can get it right too! Don’t forget to contact us for any of your snake needs! Please share this post so others will contact us as well!
