Here are some interesting facts about the Electric lines ๐Ÿ”Œโšก๏ธ
๐Ÿ‘‰ The average U.S. home uses about 11,000 kilowatt hours of electricity per year.
๐Ÿ‘‰ Electricity travels at the speed of light โ€“ over 186,000 miles per second.
๐Ÿ‘‰ Electricity can be produced from fossil fuels, large hydro power plants, nuclear power plants, or renewables like wind or solar.
๐Ÿ‘‰ For electricity to come into your home, it travels from generation facilities to a high-voltage switchyard, to transmission lines, to a substation, to a distribution line, to a transformer, to your house.
So let's keep Virginia safe and protect our utility lines by contacting Virginia 811 before you dig!

Now that the weather is warming up, Loudoun Water recommends wise watering at home. It is a good time of year to check your irrigation settings to make sure you are watering smart. Overwatering a lawn can result in grass disease, fungus and unnecessarily high water bills.

Have you ever been digging around the yard and notice the soil turn into fine gravel or sand? There could be a buried utility in the area! Why do contractors cover buried utilities with a layer of sand or gravel dust?
- Helps fill all voids around the buried cable.
- The different colors from the surrounding soil can help serve as a warning for future excavators and prevent damages.
- Helps with dissipating the heat produced by some types of utility cables.
- Aids in eliminating close proximity of impurities, such as stones or glass, preventing them from scratching the cables.
- Prevents some bacterial growth that can occur in natural soil.

An exciting event happened for LEO Construction last month. For the first time on the Dominion Energy system, LEO was able to complete the electrical terminations and perform the meter installations. This marked a special moment and a new undertaking for LEO, as our invaluable relationship with Dominion Energy continues.
Check out these pictures of some of our first "hot work" performed for Dominion Energy.
