"Our dining room is too dark."
So we put a window where there wasn't one.πͺπ»
Adding a window isn't cutting a hole in the wall. That wall is holding up your house. Here's what it took:
β Sheetrock off, and existing studs removed
β Electrical rerouted out of the way
β A structural header installed to carry the load the studs used to carry
β New window set, flashed, and sealed from the outside
β Interior rebuilt: drywall, trim, and paint to match
We set it as high as the soffit outside would allow. Up there, it works almost like a skylight. Light comes in over the top of the room instead of glaring across the table.
Same dining room. Completely different feel. The client's happy, and we're proud of this one!
