We located the problem, opened the floor, excavated the damaged section, removed the deteriorated cast iron pipe, installed new PVC, properly backfilled the trench, and restored the concrete.

Over time, the internal bladder and components inside a thermal expansion tank wear out from absorbing pressure fluctuations caused by water heater expansion. That’s exactly what they’re designed to do.
