Appreciation time for a handful of recently finished projects!

With the homes we work on, it’s always interesting to see how homeowners show off their individual styles and preferences. These homes were completed with either James Hardie or LP SmartSide siding. As you can see, there aren’t limits on what you can do. You really can make your home look the way you want!

We install siding that offers protection for your home and stands up to the weather we get in the Midwest. Siding is a solid investment for your home and will last you decades to come.

There’s one point of confusion we regularly hear from homeowners about siding: what’s the difference between vinyl and polymer? Some information out there claims that polymer is the superior siding option while other sources use the two terms interchangeably.

Allow us to set the record straight.

Polymer is an industry term and is used to indicate that additives were introduced during the siding manufacturing process. The most important one is titanium dioxide, which provides impact and fade resistance. Because UV light and heat are the main enemies of vinyl, titanium dioxide is a key addition to make vinyl last longer and prevent it from becoming brittle. If it includes extra titanium dioxide, a high-quality vinyl can be a polymer!

At KC Siding and Windows, our siding is a polymer. Our siding includes twice the amount of titanium dioxide that traditional vinyl does and is backed by a lifetime warranty that provides lasting protection to your home.

Cheaper vinyl siding that does not include additives will grow brittle and fade over the years, especially in the conditions we get in the Kansas City area. We recommend always making sure the vinyl siding you’re going to install on your house is produced by a reputable manufacturer and includes additives that will keep it going strong for decades to come.

There are plenty of siding colors to choose from, including red, white, and blue. ✨

And if you choose one of these, you’ll be in good company! Arctic white was the most popular siding color we installed last year and is still going strong.

Have a safe and happy Fourth!

We love to talk about winning the James Hardie President’s Club award. But why is it so special?

Here’s a quick breakdown of what makes earning the President’s Club so special:
- Awarded to less than 1% of companies in the James Hardie network
- We are the only winner in all of Kansas or Missouri
- Can only win with up-to-date training and audit requirements
- Have to install A LOT of James Hardie siding while meeting the highest standards

In short, KC Siding and Windows is the premiere James Hardie fiber cement installer in the area!

You might be able to find a few other companies with Elite Preferred status or a Service Excellence award. But we are the ONLY Hardie installers in the area to have won the President’s Club. And, in addition, we also have Elite Preferred status and a Service Excellence award.

When you work with us, you get a three-in-one deal with excellent James Hardie siding installation for your home.

Today we’re showing off a recent whole home transformation in Liberty, MO. This house is proof that the siding doesn’t have to change color for the after look to be drastically different from the before!

This homeowner chose James Hardie fiber cement siding in arctic white and updated trim in iron gray. Arctic white was one of our top three most popular siding colors in 2025 and it’s continuing to be popular in 2026 for the clean and beautiful look, especially when paired with the drama of a darker trim.

Do you have any dream design changes for your house in the works this year?

Water and weather are some of the toughest challenges siding can face—see how Hardie® fiber cement stands up to water compared to cedar.

Through 7 days of water saturation, Hardie®saw no visible swelling in thickness.

Watch the demonstration and see the results for yourself.

When choosing a siding and windows contractor, ask lots of questions!

But which questions should you ask? The list can feel endless, so we’re here to help simplify. When talking to a potential contractor, always ask these five questions (and our answers):

1. Is the company licensed and insured? Making sure the company has the proper coverage means that they will be able to cover issues that arise to protect their crews and your property. (We are fully licensed and insured!)

2. How long have you been in business and what does your warranty look like? We pair these questions together because you want to make sure if someone offers a long-term warranty that the company will still be around in the future to honor it! And only about half of construction companies make it past the first five years. (We’ve been in business for more than 40 years and offer a lifetime labor warranty.)

3. Who is my point of contact? Make sure you know who you will be talking to and who will be giving you updates. Not everyone will have the same people checking in on your project every day. (We assign you a dedicated project manager who is onsite daily and will give you regular updates.)

4. What does your process look like? Your contractor should be able to give you a detailed look at each step of the process to get you all on the same page. Know the timing and what to expect next. (We will walk you through this, remind you of next steps, and do a final walkthrough to make sure there are no uncertainties.)

5. When is payment required and what are my options? Each contractor offers different payment plans and options. Ask about the terms to find the approach that works best for you. (We are happy to guide you through the process and available options for payment, including financing options through us or a bank. Just let us know what you need!)

These initial five questions will help get you off on the right foot in determining if a contractor offers everything you need. And if you still have more questions afterward? Ask away!

If there’s anything you want to know about replacing siding or windows on your homes, don’t hesitate to reach out. We can help you sort it out.
