POOL REPAIR COMPLETE 💦☀️

This pool area unfortunately wasn’t installed right from the beginning. Some sections had concrete underneath, other areas had base, and over time the pavers became uneven, bullnose came loose, and several trip hazards developed around the pool.

We usually don’t take on repair jobs like this, but this one was different. The homeowner is a single mom with kids, and she was worried about them running around the pool and getting hurt. We were happy to help her get it safe again.

We pressure washed the entire area, tore into the problem spots, corrected the base where needed, leveled the uneven pavers, glued loose bullnose back down, and eliminated the trip hazards.

It’s not always about tearing everything out and starting over. Sometimes you can work with what’s there, correct the biggest problems, and give somebody a safer space for their family. 💪

People say pavers don’t hold up… that’s because they haven’t seen them installed the right way. 💪

This area kept settling and cracking the asphalt, so we tore it out and went almost a foot deep, rebuilt the base properly, compacted it, and installed pavers alongside the channel drain.

When the foundation is done right, pavers can handle movement far better than a rigid concrete slab—and if one ever moves, it can be reset instead of tearing everything out.

Functional drainage. Solid base. Beautiful finish. 🔥

🚧 Another Failed Area Getting Fixed the Right Way!

We’re working beside a customer’s garage where water comes rushing down the driveway and gets caught by a channel drain before reaching the garage.

The problem? The asphalt around the drain keeps settling and cracking, even after being repaired multiple times.

Instead of putting another temporary patch on it, we’re tearing the failed area out and rebuilding it properly:

🔹 Excavating down nearly a foot
🔹 Installing and compacting a proper stone base
🔹 Correcting the support around the channel drain
🔹 Installing pavers for a clean, durable finished surface

When something keeps failing in the same spot, fixing the surface usually isn’t enough. You have to fix what’s underneath it.

💧 DRAINAGE PROBLEMS DON’T FIX THEMSELVES — THEY USUALLY GET WORSE.

Water sitting around your home can cause a lot more damage than just a soggy yard.

At Shawn’s Landscape & Design, we don’t just throw a pipe in the ground and hope for the best. We look at where the water is coming from, how your property is graded, and where that water needs to go.

Some of the biggest drainage problems we see come from:

💧 Downspouts dumping beside the foundation instead of being buried and carried safely away from the home.

📐 Improper grading where the yard actually slopes toward the house instead of away from it.

🌧️ Standing water and soggy areas that stay wet long after the rain stops.

🏠 Water collecting around foundations, crawl spaces, basements, patios, and retaining walls.

🚿 Sump pump discharge being released too close to the house or into an area that can’t handle the additional water.

🌊 Runoff from neighboring properties or hillsides flowing directly through your yard.

🕳️ Failed or clogged underground drainage that isn’t moving water where it’s supposed to.

Depending on the property, the solution could include buried downspouts, Schedule 40 PVC, French drains, catch basins, swales, sump discharge extensions, dry wells, or correcting the grade around the home.
