🏗️ THREE MONTHS. ONE MAJOR TRANSFORMATION. AND WE’RE JUST GETTING STARTED!
Breathing New Life Into Madbury’s Police & Fire Safety Complex. 🚒🚓
It’s been a LONG three months, with plenty of early mornings, late nights, unexpected discoveries, difficult decisions, and countless moving parts. But looking back at where this project started compared to where we are today, the transformation has been nothing short of incredible.
When Right-Way Handyman Services LLC stepped into the role of Facilities Maintenance Coordinator for the Town of Madbury, NH, the mission was about more than simply fixing things as they broke.
It was about identifying years of deferred maintenance, uncovering underlying problems, protecting the Town’s investment, developing sustainable maintenance strategies, and finding ways to extend the useful life of its municipal infrastructure.
What started as addressing a persistent roof leak quickly evolved into a much larger restoration project.
Here’s what we’ve accomplished in just three months:
🔨 Identified and corrected long-standing roof leaks responsible for significant water intrusion and interior damage.
💧 Addressed exterior drainage deficiencies that were allowing water to pond against the building and infiltrate beneath the foundation.
🐜 Discovered previously unidentified termite and carpenter ant activity, coordinated professional treatment, and addressed the resulting structural deterioration.
🏗️ Coordinated the removal and complete reconstruction of approximately 65 linear feet of compromised structural exterior wall, bringing the building back to a finished, weather-protected condition.
🌳 Removed years of overgrown vegetation, reclaimed neglected exterior areas, and refreshed the surrounding landscaping.
🚗 Extended the life of the aging parking lot through crack filling, sealcoating, and fresh line striping.
🛠️ Coordinated exploratory demolition, structural assessments, roofing contractors, pest remediation specialists, HVAC professionals, carpenters, and additional trades to identify problems and develop practical, long-term solutions.
🏢 Currently overseeing the restoration of the building’s interior, including insulation, v***r barriers, drywall, ceiling repairs, finish work, and preparation for painting.
And that’s only a portion of what’s been happening behind the scenes!
The work nobody sees…
Major projects like this don’t happen simply because somebody picks up a hammer.
Behind every completed repair are countless hours of site inspections, contractor coordination, scheduling, estimating, budget tracking, reviewing proposals, managing change orders, documenting existing conditions, communicating with town leadership, working alongside building officials, and finding solutions when the unexpected inevitably happens.
My role has been to bring all those moving pieces together — identifying what needs attention, establishing priorities, coordinating the right people, managing the process, and making sure the Town receives quality work while remaining mindful of its financial responsibilities.
At the same time, we’ve been working toward something equally important: establishing a more proactive facilities maintenance program, developing long-term capital improvement recommendations, and helping the Town better understand what it will take to maintain its buildings for years to come.
I certainly didn’t accomplish this alone.
A tremendous amount of credit belongs to our partnered contractors, specialty vendors, the employees of Right-Way Handyman Services, Town of Madbury personnel, and everyone who has contributed their time, expertise, and hard work throughout this project.
A project of this magnitude requires teamwork, trust, communication, and a shared commitment to getting the job done correctly.
I’m incredibly proud to have been the person responsible for coordinating and managing this transformation from its earliest stages through the reconstruction and restoration we’re seeing today.
There is still plenty of work ahead of us, but seeing this building come back to life has been one of the most rewarding parts of the last three months.
We’re not just repairing an aging building. We’re protecting a community asset, preserving taxpayer investments, and helping ensure the men and women who serve this community have a facility that can continue supporting them for years to come.
Sometimes the most important improvements are the ones hidden behind the walls, beneath the ground, or above the ceiling.
And sometimes it takes opening up a small problem to discover just how much work really needs to be done.
Here’s to three months of progress, a tremendous team effort, and many more improvements still to come!
