Check out this before-and-after transformation!

Same boiler and water heater, but a completely updated mechanical room. New tile, upgraded boiler components, new pumps, cleaner piping, and a much more finished setup.

One of the biggest improvements is the floor—we essentially built the entire boiler room like one giant shower pan. If anything ever leaks or floods, the water is contained and directed instead of finding its way down into the floors below.

A clean mechanical room isn’t just about looks—it makes the system easier to service, protects the home, and gives the whole installation a much more professional finish.

🏔️ Misty Mountains of Coalville — Electric Boiler Radiant Heating Project 🔥⚡

Yes, you heard that right — electric boilers powering a fully engineered radiant heating system in one seriously efficient mountain home.

This homeowner spared no expense when it came to making sure the heat actually stays where it belongs. One thing people often overlook with radiant heating is how much energy can be lost through improperly insulated supply and return piping, ceilings, mechanical spaces, and poorly planned tubing layouts.

On this project, efficiency was considered from the ground up.

We’re running an electric boiler system instead of propane or natural gas, which is something a lot of homeowners don’t even realize is an option. The home is also being built with the ability to convert or add gas in the future if needed.

We’re using HeatLink manifolds with individual zone actuators, allowing multiple areas of the home to be controlled independently — even when they share the same manifold. Pair that with a variable-speed ECM circulator, and the system can adjust its flow based on exactly what the house is calling for instead of wasting energy moving water where it isn’t needed.

The radiant tubing is being installed on 8-inch centers, with the entire system designed and engineered around the heating requirements of the home — not just tubing thrown into the floor and hoping for the best.

Stay tuned on this one. We’ll be showing the flooring installation, insulation, tubing spacing, manifolds, controls, boiler setup, and the engineering that goes into building a radiant system correctly from start to finish.

Sometimes spending a little more time and money on insulation, proper design, controls, and quality heating components pays you back for years in comfort and efficiency.

❄️🔥 SNOW MELT — BUT TODAY WE’RE DOING IT BACKWARDS!

Today on this snow melt project, we’re doing a little reverse thermal dynamics — instead of putting heat INTO the system, we’re actually pulling heat OUT of the piping for a very important part of the installation process.

This is one of those behind-the-scenes steps you don’t normally get to see.

A properly installed snow melt system isn’t just about laying tubing, hooking up a boiler, and turning it on. Temperature, pressure, fluid movement, controls, and protecting the entire system throughout construction all matter if you want something that performs the way it should for years to come.

We love showing people the parts of radiant and snow melt work that normally get covered up and never seen again.

Big progress on this radiant snowmelt project today — the asphalt is going down and everything is coming together.

Huge shoutout to Serrato’s Asphalt LLC. Their crew has been great to work with from start to finish. They’re fast, effective, easy to communicate with, and most importantly, they take care of more than just their own product.

On a radiant asphalt project, there is a lot underneath the surface that has to be protected. Tubing, manifolds, penetrations, and all the work that goes into the system before the asphalt ever hits the ground. Serrato’s has taken the utmost care to protect the work underneath while still delivering a quality asphalt finish.

That’s the kind of contractor we like working with.

Sundays are about slowing down, relaxing, and spending time with the people who matter most.

That doesn’t always come easy around here. Our guys work long days, weekends, overtime, and put in the extra effort it takes to keep jobs moving and deliver the quality we expect at Silver Peak Plumbing & Radiant Heating.

So when we get a chance to step away from work, we try to make it count.

This weekend we headed up to Oktoberfest at Snowbird for some much-needed downtime — riding the lifts and gondolas, hitting the alpine slide, enjoying the mountains, and most importantly, spending time together with family and friends.

At Silver Peak, we don’t just work together — we treat our team like family. And as a family-owned business, we understand how important it is to make time for your kids, your spouse, your friends, and the people you work beside every day.

The jobs will always be there. The next deadline will always come. But making memories together is something you can’t replace.

🔥 THIS is what high-end snowmelt looks like before it disappears under asphalt.

Big progress today — finishing up the manifolds, getting every loop tied in, purged, pressurized, and on test.

This system is laid primarily on 9” centers, with tighter spacing through shaded areas and colder sections where we want the extra output. Every detail matters on a system like this, especially once it gets covered and there’s no going back.

Tomorrow we start sanding, and asphalt is scheduled for Thursday. While the tubing is being laid, we’re purging the system with water and keeping it under test so we know everything is solid before the next phase begins.

Most people will only ever see a clean, snow-free driveway.

We get to see everything that makes it happen. ❄️🔥

🔥 1 ZONE DOWN — 1 MORE TO GO! 🔥

Our 2-zone, 22-loop snowmelt system is officially underway.

Zone 1 is wrapped up with 11 loops, and now we’re moving onto the final 11.

There’s a lot of tubing, planning, and attention to detail that goes into building a snowmelt system that performs when Utah winter shows up.
