If you have patches of low-growing weeds with tiny white-to-purple flowers that resemble miniature match heads, you’re likely dealing with matchweed (Phyla nodiflora), also known as frogfruit. It thrives in moist, compacted areas and can spread quickly through thin St. Augustine turf.

The best defense against matchweed is a thick, healthy lawn:
-Mow St. Augustine at the proper height
-Avoid overwatering
-Improve drainage and reduce soil compaction
-Encourage dense turf growth to crowd out weeds

Florida is home to three common commensal rodents—meaning they thrive alongside humans and often invade homes and businesses:

House Mouse – Small but capable of contaminating food and reproducing rapidly.

Norway Rat – Large burrowing rats commonly found around foundations, sewers, and lower levels of buildings.

Roof Rat – Excellent climbers that prefer attics, trees, and rooftops. The most common rat species found in Florida homes.

A customer recently brought in a bag of beetles they had been finding around their property. These insects are commonly known as June bugs or May beetles.

June bugs are most active at night and are often attracted to porch lights and outdoor lighting. While they can become a nuisance when they show up in large numbers, they also play an important role in the ecosystem as a food source for birds, lizards, and other wildlife.

One thing many people don’t realize is that their larvae, called grubs, live underground where they feed on grass roots and can cause damage to lawns and gardens.
