Harmful: Soft scales ...have an attached waxy coating and also come in a variety of colors, shapes (flat to spherical), and sizes (1/8 to 1/2 inch). They excrete a lot of honeydew, which attracts ants and is the medium for the growth of sooty mold. Scale eggs usually hatch within three weeks after they are laid.

Severe scale problems can be prevented by early detection and good cultural practices. Learn what scales look like and inspect plants often with a magnifying glass. Small infestations can be pruned off and destroyed.

Provide good air flow and do not overfertilize.

Scale populations are controlled naturally by predators such as ladybird beetles and lacewings as well as parasitic wasps. If beneficial insects are present, consider letting them them do their jobs before you apply use a pesticide.

Today history was made at Eagle Lawn Care in Largo, FL, and we couldn't be prouder!
Brooks has officially been crowned "The Fertilizer Kid"! 👑🌱
In a true landmark moment for the Sherman family name and Eagle Lawn Care history, the torch—or rather, the 3rd-generation granular fertilizer spreader—was officially handed down while out treating St. Augustine grass right here in Largo.

Florida Lawn Watering Guide & Cheat Sheet 🌧️🌿
Quick water cheat sheet during our Florida rain season in Largo, Belleair Shores, and Pinellas County, FL!
If you get 1 hour of rain over your house, shut off your irrigation system for the week. Overwatering is the fastest way to invite destructive lawn fungus like Take-All Root Rot, Root Rot, and Gray Leaf Spot into your St. Augustine turf.
If your lawn isn’t getting that much natural rainfall, stick to the optimal schedule for sandy soils:
Duration: 45 minutes per zone
Frequency: Twice a week
Time: 5:00 AM
The Golden Rule: Always feel your soil—the grass will lie to you! If your soil is moist, you’re getting enough water. If your soil is dry, we need to check your sprinkler coverage to make sure your turf is getting adequate irrigation.
