Let’s talk about R-22 (Freon) prices... 😬🚚
If you have an older AC unit, you’ve probably noticed that refilling it has gotten incredibly expensive. I completely get it, and I promise I'm not trying to gouge you! Here is the honest truth about what’s going on behind the scenes:
🛑 It’s completely banned. The EPA fully banned the production and import of R-22 a few years ago. There is zero new R-22 being made.
📉 Supply is drying up. The only R-22 left in the country is what’s been reclaimed and recycled. Because the supply gets smaller every single day, my wholesale costs at the supplier keep climbing.
🛠️ AC units don't "burn" gas. Your air conditioner is a sealed system. If it's low on R-22, it means there is a leak.
With prices only going up, paying to top off an old, leaking system is usually just throwing good money away.
