September babies, this one’s for you 💜🌸
September’s birth flowers are the aster and morning glory—two beautiful blooms that symbolize love, wisdom, affection, and renewal.

With their rich colors and late-season beauty, they’re a perfect match for the month of September.

Are you a September birthday? Which flower do you like more: aster or morning glory?

The Community Foundation is bringing Yacht Rock to the Fish Ladder Music Park on September 10th!

Stone Street Revival brings a full-band sound with strong vocal harmonies, keyboards, and a full horn section. Their set pulls from classic rock, 70s favorites, and some deeper cuts you don't hear from every cover band.

They'll be joined by the Oxymorons, longtime friends and musical partners, playing an eclectic mix of classic songs rooted in the 60s and 70s, along with favorites from the decades that followed.

📍 Fish Ladder Music Park | Old Town Lansing
Thursday, September 10th | 7–10 PM
All ages welcome

🎟️ $5 in advance | $10 at the gate

Watch the sidewalk on your evening walk this week. The first woolly bears are crossing, and a woolly bear in the road is telling you something.

A caterpillar you catch marching in late August has quit eating for the year. It is house-hunting. Somewhere under loose bark, a woodpile, or the leaf pile you never got around to moving, it will curl up for the winter and do the thing almost nothing else in your yard can do. It freezes. Nearly solid, heart stopped, ice between its cells, all winter long.

Then in spring it thaws out, walks off, and turns into an Isabella tiger moth as if none of that happened.

So the first crossing you see is a season marker as real as a turned leaf. The little bear knows what the calendar is about to do. 🍂
