⚠️ May is National Electrical Safety Month — and as the weather warms up here in Michigan, it’s the perfect time to brush up on some outdoor electrical safety tips! ☀️🌳
At FD Hayes Electric, safety is always in season. Here are a few reminders to help you stay safe while enjoying the outdoors:
🏡 Inspect outdoor outlets for cracks, wear, or signs of moisture before use.
💡 Only use extension cords and lights labeled for outdoor use.
🪴 Call before you dig — always contact 811 to avoid underground lines before planting trees or installing fence posts.
🪑 Keep electrical cords clear of walkways and away from patio furniture and grills.
🌧️ Install GFCI outlets outdoors to prevent shock risks in wet conditions.
🎇 Avoid hanging lights or decorations near power lines or trees that touch them.
🧰 Hire a licensed electrician for any new outdoor wiring, hot tub hookups, or landscape lighting.
Whether you're working in the yard or hosting a backyard BBQ, electrical safety should always be part of the plan. Stay safe out there, Michigan!
