We’re hiring! WIELAND is looking to bring a new Assistant Safety Manager on board in the Lansing office.

This role supports WIELAND’s Safety, Health, and Environmental (SH&E) operations through coordinating safety training, maintaining records, facilitating safety initiatives and promoting proactive hazard prevention. An Assistant Safety Manager will need to be able to work across departments to support OSHA compliance, continuous improvement, and effective communication of company safety standards.

At WIELAND, one of the best parts of our internship program is seeing interns graduate and officially join the team full-time. This year, we’re excited to celebrate five outstanding graduates as they begin the next chapter of their careers with WIELAND.

Cole Keifer graduated from Michigan State with a degree in Construction Management and will support the Brick Row project in downtown Lansing as an Assistant Project Manager.

Jackson McKinney earned his degree in Construction Engineering Technology from Louisiana Tech University, where he served as the 2025-2026 AGC x N***T President. Jackson has accepted a position in WIELAND’s Shreveport Office.

Mitch Mills, a recent graduate of Michigan State’s Construction Management program, has been in WIELAND’s internship program for the past two summers and will join the Lansing office full-time in July.

Tyson Kizzia recently graduated from Louisiana State University and will be joining WIELAND full-time after several years as an intern. Tyson has played an important role across multiple projects, and we’re excited to officially welcome him to the team.

Westin Allen will join the Shreveport office after graduating from the University of Texas at Tyler. During his time in school, Westin served as President of the CMSA Timber-Strong team, showcasing strong leadership both in and out of the classroom.

Congratulations to each of you on your achievements and graduations. We’re proud to have you on the team and excited for what’s ahead.

The WIELAND team had a great time with the Louisiana Tech University Associated General Contractors/North American Society for Trenchless Technology (AGC/N***T) Student Chapter on May 4.

WIELAND’s Justin Boyter, John Person, and Lukas Riether spoke with more than 60 students about what to expect after college and when entering the construction industry.

We are excited to see the next generation preparing to lead and even more excited to welcome Jackson McKinney to the WIELAND team. Jackson currently serves as the 2025-2026 President of the LA Tech AGC/N***T Student Chapter and will be working in the Shreveport Regional office upon graduation!

WIELAND is back at Grand Ledge Schools, continuing to introduce students to the many opportunities a future in construction can offer.

This time, WIELAND’s Assistant Project Manager, Chloe Scholten, visited Hayes Intermediate School for their Career Day, where she met with four groups of 6th-grade students. Through an activity-based approach, Chloe gave students a hands-on look at her role in the construction industry and what a career in the field can look like.

As the industry looks toward its next generation, we’re committed to more than just showing up; we’re helping build the foundation for those that come next.

WIELAND is building more than just projects; we’re building community!

On April 23, WIELAND partnered with Habitat for Humanity of Kent County to help construct a new residential home in Muskegon, MI, supporting its mission to provide safe, affordable housing for families in need. The WIELAND team spent the day working on the front and back porches, installing columns and siding, and completing roofing work on the shed. They also had the chance to connect with neighbors who are excited to welcome a new family to their community.

WIELAND is building more than just projects; we’re building something that makes a lasting impact beyond the job site.

Michigan State University’s final construction management event of the year is right around the corner, and we’re excited to be part of it.

Next Thursday, WIELAND’s Regional Director, Damian Starr, will represent WIELAND at the MSU 2026 Internship Prep for Success & Mentor Mash, a speed networking event connecting students with CM-IAB members and program sponsors as they prepare for life after school.

The evening runs from 4:30-7:30 pm, kicking off with a panel discussion on preparing for summer internships, followed by the Mentor Mash, an opportunity for students to connect with employers and better understand expectations entering the workforce.

We’re looking forward to meeting, connecting, and helping prepare the next generation of construction professionals as they get ready to graduate and enter the job market!
