Four years ago, a fire destroyed one of the most storied clubhouses in American golf. This spring, the membership of Oakland Hills Country Club opened the doors to its new clubhouse and a bright future ahead.

Clark Construction Company was honored to be chosen to work alongside Oakland Hills as Construction Manager for its “Next 100 Project.” This historic undertaking included the construction of the new clubhouse, an industry-leading Greens & Grounds Facility to support its two acclaimed golf courses, and numerous infrastructure improvements throughout the property.

What made this project different was not just its scale. It was the weight of it. We were not simply working to build a functional structure for world-class hospitality, but to bring back a home where generations of memories were made. Every Clark employee and tradesperson who stepped onto the worksite sought to honor that across their work.

The grand pillared veranda is back. Its ballroom, where cherished memories will be celebrated, is aglow. Corridors are lined with an incredible display of golf history. The view from its many windows, looking out over the South Course, is exactly what members remembered.

It took the entire project team, our people, BDC Consulting, Neumann/Smith Architecture, and hundreds of trade partners to get this right. We are grateful to have had the opportunity to work alongside the members and staff of Oakland Hills over the past four years.

Happy Pride Month! While all year long is a great time to support and celebrate our LGBTQIA+ family, friends, and colleagues, June is a great time to reflect on the history of the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan and recognize its impact. Also, fun fact: Clark is a proud sponsor of the Ferndale Pride event that took place this past weekend in Downtown Ferndale.

Big progress happening in Pontiac! The new Youth Recreation Center has officially reached an exciting milestone—foundations are complete, and steel er****on began on the first half of the building last week. It’s incredible to see this project start to take shape!

Up next, our carpentry team will begin work on the parapet, followed by roofing installation to keep things moving forward.

Please join us in congratulating Janice Suchan, AIA, LEED AP on her promotion to Chief Strategy Officer and Shareholder!

Janice joined Clark six years ago after previously holding a regional Vice President role at a large AE firm. She brought with her nearly 30 years of experience in the Architecture and Construction industry, along with a strategic way of thinking about our work, our business, and growth strategy. She has been instrumental in doubling our company’s revenue, shaping our innovative culture, and making Clark a “Best Place to Work” for the past five years.

As CSO, Janice will guide Clark's overall strategic direction, including our markets, client relationships, pursuits, and long-term decisions about where and how we grow. She will ensure that our strategic planning is not just an exercise, but something that translates into real decisions and real action at every level of the company.

Janice holds a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Detroit Mercy and is a licensed architect in Michigan. She is a LEED Accredited Professional through the U.S. Green Building Council and a member of the American Institute of Architects and the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards. She is active on a number of regional boards, including the Southeast Michigan chapter of the ACE Mentor program.

Check out the recent feature on Airport Community Schools as construction officially begins on the district’s $32.8 million bond program.

The program includes a variety of upgrades focused on enhancing safety, functionality, and the overall educational experience while advancing the district’s long-term goals.

These improvements will help support student success and strengthen the district’s facilities well into the future, and we’re proud to partner with ACS as we continue building the future together.

The Clark team had a great time attending the Year-End Celebration for the ACE Mentor Program of SE Michigan banquet last night!

We’re incredibly proud of our team members who support ACE through both board leadership and hands-on mentoring. The ACE Mentor Program is a no-cost, after-school initiative focused on building the future workforce—connecting high school students with professionals in the design and construction industry and opening doors to meaningful career paths.

A highlight of the evening was awarding a $10,000 scholarship to Isreal Muniz—congratulations on this well-deserved achievement!
